liaison between the business and technical groups to ensure the timely delivery of mission critical
services.
• Brought in to take control of failing datacenter migration project unsuccessfully executed by
outside consulting team. The success of this project was crucial in order to meet the
demands of rapid business growth. However project was plagued by poor progress. I
successfully accomplished the project in 2 months by working with engineering team and
current outsourcer to overcome the hostile circumstances, developing strong working
relationship and leadership to enable successful migration to meet both technical and
business needs.
• As the parent company IAC was in process of separating Ticketmaster and Cityserch
operations, separating Citysearch IT infrastructure from Ticketmaster became a challenge
with expiring facility support contracts and out-dated network infrastructure. I conceived and
implemented complete infrastructure redesign, so that departments at widespread locations
including 5 data centers and 14 branch offices nation-wide were integrated seamlessly with
MPLS technologies to improve overall performance and scalability; Leveraged personal
relationships with vendors to bring high-value, low-cost proposals to the table that enabled
potential cost savings of 40%.
• Managed engineering resource, worked in close collaboration with development to support all
phases of production release, maintenance, and escalation. Worked with senior executive to
review engineering release management, problem management.
E arthlink, Inc., Pasadena CA 05/1997- 11/2007
Communications provider focused on offering over 5 million customers high quality Internet services and
integrated communication services nation wide.
Senior Manager, Engineering 2006 – 2007
Managed a team of senior engineering responsible for the tier III technical functions associated
with EarthLink Portal and VOIP Infrastructure management: high availability; performance and
tuning analysis; capacity planning, workload modeling, and prediction; systems support; long-
term strategic planning; application launch, support and optimization; problem resolution tracking;
and software upgrades. Ensured high-level support for a large and complex ISP environment
consisting of more than 3000 UNIX systems and 50 services. As production and process owner,
oversaw department project roadmap, represented engineering and interfaced with complex
internal and external functional organizations.
• Directed core engineering team focusing in systems engineering and optimization, new
product launch and release, high service availability and reliability.
• Led engineering effort in designing Virtual Share Infrastructure to optimize the management
of EarthLink's data centers, improve business processes, and increase resource utilization.
Achieved dramatic cost savings and reduced deployment time via successful product
deployments with virtualization.
• Set policies and guidelines to minimize visible impact while the EarthLink operation was in
the process of transitioning to an outsourced model. Optimized systems management and
streamlined systems support processes to ensure seamless transition.
• Provided leadership in key relations with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless
engineering processes, and conducted regular meetings with business units and various
functional organizations to ensure engineering and operations met business objectives.
• Reduced cost of revenue by successfully migrating services from the large Dallas data center
to Atlanta and Pasadena locations, allowing closure of the costly remote facility in Texas.
Operation Manager/Sr. Manager, UNIX Systems Administration 2003-2006
Created and managed two new teams to support the entire 24x7x365 EarthLink UNIX systems
infrastructure in three geographically separate data centers dispersed across the nation, provided
end-to-end production support for consumer and business products to ensure service availability
and release met target success and stability objectives. Supported services included web
applications, customer facing portal, authentication, DNS, wireless, email, security, mobile

devices and messaging, VoIP, customer billing and provisioning systems, internal finance
systems, and corporate internal services.
• As a technical manager, planned and oversaw stratified manpower downsizing efforts that
concluded in 30% workforce reduction. This improved our profitability position. However it
presented challenges to reduce overhead to meet SLA. Planned and oversaw outsourcing of
Tier 1 system and service maintenance effort to company in India. Conceived and
implemented the training program which made a transparent transition more doable for the
operation, which supported 5 million subscribers
• Managed all aspects of system implementation, production escalation and resolution, worked
on product release, enhancement, and maintenance closely with Product and Dev teams;
• Created, oversaw, and executed department policies, had full authority in recruiting and
promoting staff, conducted annual staff review and managed a $2M manpower budget.
• Reduced cost of revenue by consolidating systems in data centers, standardized hardware
deployment and support strategies, and reduced service footprint.
• Led a team implementing a 40 Terabyte cross-country data migration for the purpose of
consolidating storage for one of the larger services. Concurrent re-architecting resulted in a
single storage farm, dramatically reducing the number of storage servers to be maintained
Senior UNIX Systems Administrator 1997- 2003
Responsible for maintenance of all EarthLink consumer products, acted as primary contact for
new product deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and enhancement; services integration;
performance optimization, outage resolution, documentation. Project highlights include:
• As a Senior System Administrator, addressed two of the company's worst post-merger
Earthlink/Mindspring integration problems consistently impacting customer services and IT
operations: Customer database disparity in design and implementation prevented the two
main system administration teams from integrating most of the other services together
seamlessly across data centers. Due to capacity and performance issues, Earthlink suffered
daily customer authentication outages which greatly impacted business and operations. To
address this problem I led the SA effort in deploying an integrated Authentication system
across two data centers and provided primary technical leadership to ensure overall
performance and capacity. The project was implemented so successfully that it resolved all
authentication issues and became one of the most stable services for years.
• The 2nd main issue was the lack of a comprehensive access model for system administration
which impacted productivity and was a major barrier to interoperation for the teams, which all
came from legacy companies. I designed and implemented a efficient, highly secure gateway
farm that allowed system administrators from all teams transparent access, uniform
procedures, and better understanding of the existing systems coming from legacy
companies.
• Large Network-attached Storage (NAS) implementation and optimization.
• Other project highlights include EarthLink/Mindspring, OmniSky, Onemain and Netcom
integrations; Traffic management (SLB, Akamai), complex email platform administration,
RADIUS enhancements, and many EarthLink Portal services management.

reliable, maintainable MIS infrastructure.
• Served as primary technical contact for vendor management, managed a $2m hardware
budget and was responsible for annual technologies refresh.
• Successfully planned and executed multiple data center implementations
• Planned and implemented a worldwide scalable network infrastructure spread across 15
intercontinental cities, key technologies including Cisco 7600/7200/3800/2600 routers, Cisco
VPN 3000 Series Concentrator, Cisco 6500/7600 IPSec, Cisco 800 for Teleworkers, 802.11
wireless, PIX 550 firewall, Catalyst 6500/3800 switches, CiscoWorks, Cisco Local Director
(SLB), IDS, and VoIP (CallManager, IPUnity).
• With diminished resources, led and completed SeeBeyond/Sun post acquisition Data and
Voice Networks integrations to allow one of the largest Sun integrations to succeed.
