Client: Publish Application(Delivery Item workflow) Dec'08-Oct'09

PegaSystems

Technology PRPC 5.4/5.5, Java, IAC, SOAP

Role Team lead for Development team for offshore

Project Aim is to develop a publish application which will help in

Abstract publishing the hot fixes to the pdn website of Pega for

their clients to download as needed.

There were 2 parts to the project, one was to provide the

outside customers the ability to download the available

hotfixes for each of PRPC 5.x SPx releases that's already

available. The other part, which was designed and developed

by me, was to provide user interface to internal Pega

Customer Service representatives to download the hot fixes

and zip it across to the clients.

In addition to providing the option to download hotfixes,

my Delivery Item workflow was a systems of records showing

how many hotfixes have been downloaded by clients and cse's

and use that information for reporting on the self-service

usage of the PDN web site.

For creating the Delivery Item workflow,

we have used screen flow, which allows easy navigation

between pages

standard DCO mechanism to design/gather requirements,

using standard Pega harness viz. New, Confirm, Review

etc(with necessary customization) for designing the user

interface

using wherever possible standard pega provided

activities/methods(with customization) to develop most of

the code and also to maintain the PRPC 10 guardrails

methodology

integration services provided by Pega for interfacing with

other applications viz.

Dependency Checker (application which returned the

dependencies for the hotfixes) using the Rule-Connect-HTTP

type of rule files.

Packager (application for packaging the hotfixes into a

zipped format for delivery).

IAC was used to connect this PRPC app i.e. Publish

application to the PDN website. PDN is the help website

accessed by external users. So this in turn kicked off the

Delivery Item workflow which started creating Delivery Item

work objects in the background thereby letting external

customers use the Hot fixes readily available.
