Present inventory.
Deployed RedHat and Centos Linux servers running services such as Apache, PHP,
PostgreSQL, memcached, dhcpd, SVN, postfix and imapd.
Built and deployed Solaris 10 servers primarily consisting of Oracle database
servers and Apache web servers taking advantage of ZFS snapshotting and Zones.
This hardware is interfaced to a NetApp SAN storage array with Brocade fiber
channel switches.
Configured and maintained several virtualized servers using VMWare Server and
Solaris Zones.
Created a significant number of Bash, Korn and Perl shell scripts for
automating a huge variety of tasks.
Designed, created and deployed a system for allowing our Account Executives
and customers to order products and monitor inventory from the web using PHP
5.
Worked with our Oracle database administrator to design, analyze and optimize
tables in the databases and the queries ran against it in order to enhance DB
performance and reliability.
Implemented memcached servers to vastly reduce the server load on the Oracle
databases and to further increase the speed and reliability of queries ran
against them.
Implemented hourly ZFS snapshots on mission critical systems in order to
assure a high level of reliability and allow the ability to quickly roll back
changes in the event of a problem.
Maintained disks and implemented Dual-Parity RAID 6 storage systems on NetApp
SAN equipment. In addition to putting in place backup and recovery solutions.
Monitored and tuned Linux file systems to achieve optimum performance and
reliability.
Software Hired into the technical support department as a temp in
Developer 1998 and was quickly brought on as a full time technician
after proving myself in the field. After 1 year of
United Parcel technical support work, I was moved to the software
Service development team where I implemented numerous systems used
Hodgkins, IL throughout the facility including some of the first Linux
based systems ever to be used in the company.
Aug. 1998 - Oct.
2000
Developed a real-time web-based diagnostic and monitoring system for DCOR
(Dense Code Optical Reader) devices.
Developed an employee identification system to make it easier for employees
that had forgotten their identification badges to enter the facility and keep
track of the entry and exit of employees into the facility.
Developed a data mining system for package tracking that could estimate the
location of a particular package inside of a shipping container based off of
the time and number of packages that were loaded into the vehicle.
Maintained the servers that housed the DB2 and Oracle databases that allowed
the facility to operate.
