- Responsible for the management and daily operations of two teams

comprised of network engineers and network analysts to support all voice

and data networks in corporate campus, 9 distribution centers and over

6,600 Family Dollar stores country-wide.

- Provide managerial on-call support 24/7 for the entire Family Dollar

voice and data networks

- Directs, manages and supports implementation for WAN technologies

including cellular, satellite, and broadband.

- Develops processes and procedures for implementation of new tools within

the Network Operations Group.

- Works closely with telecommunications vendors in selecting, implementing

and reviewing technology deployment in network and voice installations.

- Keeps senior management apprised of network availability, advising

management during network outages or other situations which may impact the

network.

- Interfaces with other business units to provide situational awareness

and ensure network issues are considered during development of store

systems utilizing the network.

- Oversees and coordinates the daily activities of the

network/telecommunications team, including trouble ticket management,

escalations from Help Desk and Desktop Support teams and project

management.

- Responsible for managerial activities, including performance appraisals,

terminations and hiring.

- Ensures LAN/WAN, and Telephony configurations meet organizational needs,

utilizing outside support resources as appropriate.

- Interfaces with internal and external parties, including vendors, to

determine most appropriate type of hardware and software installation.

- Manages and negotiates telecommunications and WAN contracts, including

MPLS, Internet, cellular, etc.

- Participates in the creation and management of capital and operating

budgets.

- Researches and evaluates new technology relative to network and telephony

design, operations, management and network security.

networking equipment and software.

- Develops measures to analyze work load and capacity utilization of

network components.

- Provides 24-hour oversight and management of all IT resources within the

900,000+ square foot distribution center supporting 600+ stores

- Leads team of 6 computer operators and desktop support personnel, liaison

with operations personnel to ensure IT availability

- Advises Regional Vice President and upper management on all IT-related

issues

- Oversees the implementation, operation, and management of the LAN, Nortel

PBX and phone network, PA system, and RF network

users, 31,618 PCs and 1,200 servers including 110 MS Exchange servers

- Directed the activities of 31 military and contractor technicians engaged

in tracking and resolution, fault isolation, network security and service

restoration

- Developed and managed Service Level Agreements with 28 LAN centers in

Europe

- Managed center budget in excess of $3 million per year; monitored all

expenditures

received $10.5 million to implement; project completed within 90 days

entire population of 8,000; wrote and taught HTML and Java classes to 24

- Developed innovative, automated web tool for tracking personnel; adopted

by Pentagon for use at all Air Force facilities world-wide

network technicians in unit - almost two years before Air Force adopted
