SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
. Chaired committee on creating the request for proposal (RFP) for online
communities application, and served on committees for developing Web
(including accessibility) guidelines, choosing content management
systems, implementing online continuing education and selecting knowledge
management systems.
. Designed and managed Websites for two divisions of ALA for nine years,
converting from FTP-maintained site to content management systems.
. Built Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) success stories
interactive database, which is a model for other division/office sites;
same story for the Directory of Peer Consultants and Speakers database.
Helped in passage of extensions of this act.
. Launched curriculum of WebCT-based online courses, and worked with
another division on launching a course as part of the Certified Public
Library Administrator Program. These exceeded revenue expectations by 10%
for each of three years I was involved.

International organization dedicated to the development, improvement and
promotion of library and information services. Association has 67,000
members.
Web Developer (2008-2009)
Developed and maintained web applications and forms used by management and
professional staff.
. Created application for submitting electronic petitions for membership
elections and referendums. New systems replaced manual processes.
. Maintained twenty existing applications used for creating electronic
ballots, applying for scholarships, managing volunteer activities,
facilitating data collection and nominating New York Times librarian of
the year award, among others.
. Led virtual membership initiatives incorporating Second Life and other
virtual communities for delivery of distance education and conference
programs.

Managed all Web-related publishing activities for two ALA divisions.
. Created database-driven applications that made documents available online
for board members, provided search for reviews of reference works from
Sources (a column of the RUSQ Journal), and built the Exchange, a
database of "stumper" reference questions derived from The Exchange
column from RUSQ Journal.
. Gained valuable training in Web Accessibility and became a point person
for the association on good practice.
. Facilitated creation of the first ALA blog/journal, RUSQ Online
Companion.
