. Used CRP techniques like reversible-addition fragmentation chain
transfter (RAFT), and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) for
synthesis of novel functional polymer architectures.
. CRP along with "Click" chemistry used for the synthesis of novel diols
for
Polyurethane coatings with tunable bulk and surface properties.
. Demonstrated a new concept for the synthesis of low surface energy UV-
curable coatings with siloxane moieties on the polymer backbone.

meetings and two patent filings.

. Optimized one-pack epoxy based metallic paints for interior of food cans.
. Specific duties included use of various metallic pigments for the coating
formulations to prevent settling of the pigments.

. Worked on the synthesis and optimization of reaction conditions
unsaturated polyesters resins for the formulation of UV-curable coatings
using donor-acceptor chemistry
. The polymers were characterized by several analytical techniques like
DSC, FTIR and GPC.
. The work led to the formulation of UV-curable clay nanocomposite based
coatings with significant improvement in mechanical and thermal
properties.

Recipient of competitive ND EPSCoR Doctoral Dissertation Award (DDA) which
included writing an independent research proposal. The proposal was
reviewed by an external panel and was selected for funding of $ 20,000 for
2007-2008 academic year.

characterization like gel permeation chromatography (GPC), differential
scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermo gravemetric analysis (TGA), nuclear
magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM),
fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), contact angle measurement,
and coatings testing methods like pendulum hardness, hardness testing, etc.
