Transferin, LDH, GGT, Amylase and Cardiac Enzymes buy using
Beckman Synchron CX4 and LX20 machines.
3 .Performs Capillary Bilirubin using Bilimeter Machine.
4. Performs Urine Electrolytes, 24 hour urine for Total Protein and
Creatinine Clearance, Renal Calculi Analysis by using Beckman
Synchron CX3 Delta and CX4 machines.
5. Performs Glycosylated Hemoglobin or HBA1c by using Beckman
Synchron CX4.
6 .Performs Urine and Serum Analysis using Advanced Diagnostic

Microbiology Section - Kuwait Central Blood Bank :
1. Participates with the external assessment of staff 's performance
in
association with the College of American Pathologist (CAP).
2. Performs HIV Antigen and anti-HBs by using ABBOTT AXSYM
analyzer.
3. Screening of donor's blood sample to determine the presence of
specific
antigen and antibodies such as anti-HIV I and II, anti-HCV, anti-
HTLV I
and II, anti-HB core and HBsAg by using ABBOTT PRISM.
4. Performs both pooling and sample storage for further investigation
by
using freedom EVO clinical instrument (TECAN LOGIC).
5. Detection of antibodies microscopically to Plasmodium falciparum
which
causes malaria.
6. Screening of selected blood donors for malaria coming from endemic
areas
as identified by WHO (World Health Organization) by IFT (Indirect
Fluorescent Technique).
7. Screening of donor's blood sample for syphilis and Anti-HBs using
Architect i200SR Automatic Immuno Analyzer.
Hematology :
1. Performs standardized hematological test which includes various
steps and
procedures for proper evaluation of blood samples for CBC (Hematocrit,
Hemoglobin, WBC and RBC count, WBC Differential count, and Blood Platelet
count.
2. Prepare, stain and evaluate smear for WBC Differential count,
Platelet
estimate and RBC morphology.
3. Performs special hematological test procedures such as ESR,
Sickling test
Sickle cell anemia, Red Cell Osmotic Fragility test, Prothrombin
Time
(PT), APTT, Thrombin time.
4. Handled machines such as Coulter Counter, Cell Dyn 1700 which is
fully
automated cell counter.
Blood Bank :
1. Performs blood collection of whole blood from donors and prepare
blood
products.
2. Performs screening test from Donors such as Hbs Ag, Syphilis,
HIV, HCV.
3. Performs recepients and donors ABO/Rh typing
4. Performs major crossmatching technique prior to transfusion.
5. Performs antibody identification and titration using Coomb's
test, DAT and
IAT.
6. Receive and release screened crossmatched blood and blood
products.
7. Handled machines such as Blood Bank Refrigerator equipped with
alarm
and automated temperature indicator and regulator, Serological
Micro
Centrifuge, Incubator and Thawing Machine.
Serology :
1. Performs qualitative and quantitative serological test for
Syphilis using RPR
Card Test.
2. Performs Widal and Thyphidot Test for Typhoid fever.
3. Performs Rheumatoid test (RF) for Rheumatiod Arthritis.
4. Performs Anti-Streptolysin O titer test (ASO).
5. Performs HbsAg screening and profile.
6. Performs HIV screening test.
7. Handled machines such as Micro ELISA automated reader and washer,
Clinical Rotator.
Clinical Microscopy :
1. Examine urine specimens for routine physical, chemical, and
microscopic
morphologies. Combistix and Multistix Urine strips for chemical
examination of glucose, specific gravity, pH, protein, ketone,
bilirubin,
blood, nitrite.
2. Performs microscopic examination of urine sediments and determine
the
formed and non-formed elements of urine with emphasis on the
pathologic
elements such as RBC, WBC, Cast and Parasites.
3. Identification of ova and parasites in stool by Direct Fecal
Smear using
Saline, Iodine and Kato Thick smear.
4. Performs Occult Blood Testing using Hematest Tablet.
5. Performs Pregnancy test using HCG card.
6. Performs seminal analysis.
7. Handled machines such as Clinical Centrifuge and Light
Microscope.
Histopathology :
1. Prepare and label tissue specimens for Histology.
2. Prepare and cut tissue sections, effusions for fixing,
dehydration,
rehydration, embedding, sectioning or cutting with microtome,
mounting/
fixing on the slide, staining with H&E and final mounting on the
slide with
Permount or Canada Balsam mounting solution.
3. Staining of cervico-vaginal smear with Papanicolaou stain.
4. Handled machines such as Rotary/Sliding Microtome, Cryotome, Hot
Plate,
Automatic Tissue Processor.
Nucleic Acid Technology Section
1. Performs the detection of low levels of viral genetic materials at
window
period before producing antibodies in response to viral
infection.
2. Performs screening of donor's blood samples using automated
pipetting
system that transfer aliquots and controls to specific tubes to
be tested for
HBV DNA, HCV RNA, HIV type I RNA and West Nile Virus RNA.
3. Handles machines such as Cobas S201 that is a combination of
Hamilton
Microlab star IVD Pipettor, Cobas Ampliprep Analyzer for
automated
sample preparation and Cobas Tagman analyzer for automated
amplification and detection of viral materials.
Storage and distribution Section
1. Receive and release screened crossmatched blood and blood products
for
