Operations Excellence Leader

I joined Rabobank in Ireland following a successful Lean exercise in early

2010 at Rabobank led by an external consultancy group. My role was to

develop the internal capability in Dublin and to become a global leader in

Operational Excellence within the Rabobank Group. In this role I worked

with the Executive management team to educate them on the theory of Lean

Six Sigma and lead them in devising a deployment strategy for improvement

at Rabobank in Ireland which in 2011 delivered circa E2 million savings

while also certifying 180 employees in the principles of Lean Six Sigma. I

left this role to relocate to the United States.

IBM ISC (Integrated Supply Chain) Jan 2008 -

The ISC Group is involved in the manufacturing and assembly of the IBM

server systems and delivering hardware and software products to our clients

across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Manager -Global Role

Promoted to Team and Strategy Lead for the Supply Chain Operations, (one of

three Value Streams in Order to Cash). In this role I led a team of ten

certified black belts to drive reengineering projects aligned to key

business deliverables devised via consultation with the senior management

team.

1. Senior member of a global team of thirty lean six sigma consultants

tasked with driving process innovation into the DNA of the business to

deliver hard and soft dollar savings to the business and to create a

culture of process transformation. Annualised Savings ~$50Million, Sub

team contribution of $17M.

2. Partnered with functional teams to manage and drive through business

and political environments and deliver project objectives aligned

jointly with business transformation metrics, process reengineering,

and IT goals.

3. Mentored and coached Black belt team members as well as Green Belt

deployment programs.

4. Engaged with functional teams to devise deployment strategy and

developed and lead an effective management/ governance system.

5. Provided technical leadership for Lean Six Sigma program and selected

appropriate improvement techniques/ statistical methods to deliver

tangible business results on projects.

6. Teamed with IBM leadership team to rollout a sustainable Lean/ Six

Sigma education and training program.

7. Enhanced the team's reputation in interactions with sponsors,

customers, management, and within the process innovation team through

effective communication, presentation, positive teaming, and

leadership with integrity.

IBM GTS (Global Technology Services) Feb 2007 -

Dec 2007

GTS is the outsourced service delivery division of IBM, where in the Dublin

operation a team of 500 people deliver IT Call Centre support to > 100

global customers.

Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Program Manager, - Dublin Role

Assigned to this short term project because of my proven track record with

delivering tangible business results on time and exceeding result

projections while also enabling a positive environment for process

transformation.

Having engaged McKenzie consultants for an initial assessment of our

Service Delivery centres globally (one based in Ballycoolin, Dublin

servicing North East Europe), I was appointed Program Manager for the

development/ advancement of their initial assessment into a set of

projects which delivered a 20% reduction (70 FTE reduction) in business

cost to maintain/ enable business expansion at the centre. The project was

9 months in duration. All of these processes are transactional processes

demonstrating how Lean Six Sigma is pertinent in any business environment.

IBM Microelectronics Division

This division of IBM is responsible for the end to end design, manufacture

and assembly of smaller, faster, more cost efficient semiconductors.

Senior Operations Manager - Dublin role Mar 2004 -

Jan2007

Reported to the Head of Operations and Engineering, lead the Operations

team in the product family structure adopted internally while also was

responsible to drive the program into the extended value stream by

partnering with customers and suppliers.

Internal role expanded to include the management of the new product line

structure as a Senior Value Stream Manager. This role had the

responsibility to lead a team of first line managers covering a 24 x 7

shift cycle to deliver daily business requirements; throughput, cycle time,

yields, inventory management inline with customer requirements of quality

and cost. This role also saw the reduction of staff numbers by ~ 30% while

maintaining all business deliverables. Retained progressive cultural

environment and maintained all key personnel despite redeployment program.

Had responsibility for all the budgetary elements of this operations team.

The role also led the extension of the lean methodology into the extended

supply chain partnering with customers and suppliers in creating value

streams for the extended supply chain. (Asia based projects).

This required the detailed knowledge of the supply chain management

planning engines as well as vendor capability and processes and

carrier/distribution deliverables and capabilities.

This program saw a 20% year on year productivity improvement.

Lean Thinking Facilitator - Dublin role Jan 2002 -

Mar 2004

Tasked with learning the methodology of Lean Thinking & becoming site

expert through working with the Lean Enterprise Academy and Lean

progressive companies in Ireland via a shared learning network. Developed

a deployment model for Lean Thinking at IBM, incorporating training and

education, product family definition, organisation realignment, value

stream mapping facilitation, project management and devised key performance

indicators (KPI's). In 2004, this role expanded to developing a process

for deploying leaning thinking into our Support organisations with a view

to increasing productivity.

Result from 2002 to 2004 saw a 70 % reduction in In-house Inventory, 60%

reduction in In-house Cycle Time & 30% increase in Productivity. 2004 saw a

20% increase in Indirect role productivity. These improvements netted a $2

Million saving to the Operations Team in year one.
