EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
** ***** ** *********** ***********, technical communications, marketing,
sales and sales training. My marketing experience has included identifying
untapped market segments and defining new semiconductor device families to
address those markets. My communications experience has included writing
technical feature articles, conference papers, product data sheets and
roadmaps, application notes, web page content, online help, work project
proposals, press releases, technical training materials, and presenting to
potential and actual customers. My instructional design experience ranges
from systematic design tutorials to clear, concise ways to present
abstract, technical value. My personality type is a Myers-Briggs ENTP.
WORK EXPERIENCE
June 2007 - Present Qspeed Semiconductor, Santa Clara, CA
Technical Marketing Manager
Working with C-level management to define new semiconductor device
families. Creating and presenting training materials to sales people and
FAEs. Exploring and evaluating tangential niche markets with regard to how
they might best be penetrated. Occasionally visiting potential customers
in the U.S. and Asia. Wrote several application notes and technical
articles for tier-one trade journals (one article got over a dozen reader
responses requesting samples of Qspeed parts). Wrote and presented
conference papers for PET 2007, APEC 2008 and DPF 08. Acting as an
applications engineer, I helped create a hardware reference design. I have
also acted as a reliability engineer, helping to verify that new products
are mass-producible.
2002 - 2007 Power Integrations, Inc., San Jose, CA
Technical Marketing Engineer
Wrote 40+ technical articles for trade journals. One article was the most
read piece on Power Management Design Line, in 2006. Wrote and presented
10 conference papers at venues such as APEC 2006 and 2007, PET 2006, DPF
'06 and PPDC '05. Created training materials for sales people, field
engineers and live customer seminars. Wrote and/or edited numerous
technical documents and application notes. Edited and revised the help
system for a suite of power supply, design software tools, at two of its
major revisions. Pitched to potential investors.
2001 - 2002 Jennings & Associates, Carlsbad, CA Account
Executive/Technical Writer
Wrote technical feature articles, press announcements and technical manuals
for state-of-the-art, high-tech companies in the electrical power
industries, while I waited for my position at Astec to open back up.
Managed multiple accounts while meeting numerous, tight deadlines.
2000 - 2001 Astec America, Carlsbad, CA
Program Engineer
As technical support for a regional sales team, helped clients customize
Astec power supplies to work within products and applications that ranged
from supercomputers to bio-medical LASERs.
1998 - 2000 Delta Products Corporation, Austin, TX
Design Engineer
Managed power supply development for Dell Computer personal and business
PCs, network server and workstation product lines. Helped grow account
from 43 to 135 million USD/year.
1996-1998 C&D Technologies, Inc., Tucson, AZ
Associate Design Engineer
Designed telecommunications power supplies, and released them to mass
production. Completed three design projects in two years. Supervised
design evaluation testing and circuit revision. Specified new components
and coordinated all parts procurement with pre-production and initial
manufacturing schedules. Wrote service manuals and data sheets for all
new designs.
1995-1996 Allied Signal Corporation, Tucson, AZ Test
Engineer
Tested, troubleshot, and characterized new aviation electronics hardware
and software.
Actively participated on and lead numerous KAIZEN (radical continuous
improvement) teams.
1993-1995 Burr-Brown Corporation, Tucson, AZ
Technical Writer/Editor
Created troubleshooting and repair flowcharts, checklists and work
instructions. Wrote clear and concise detailed procedures for preventive
maintenance and repair tasks performed on semiconductor fabrication
equipment. Maintained and improved rapport with client technicians.
. Effectively & efficiently lead and facilitated task team meetings and
brain storming sessions.
. Successfully planned, managed and implemented two high-visibility wafer
fab projects.
. Defined & created user-friendly documentation formats, including check
lists and flowcharts.
1990-1993 Lambda Electronics, Tucson, AZ Associate
Design Engineer
Helped develop new switching power supply designs. Created circuit
diagrams, mechanical drawings and documentation using CAD software and MS
Office programs. Tested and evaluated all electrical and thermal
performance parameters. Recorded, summarized and analyzed test results.
Troubleshot, repaired and modified prototype circuits. Coordinated new
component procurement to correspond with pilot production and initial
manufacturing schedules.
. Combined stress chart & Engineering BOM to make project spreadsheets
more useful.
. Laid out electrical circuit diagrams to follow a natural operational
flow, for better usability.
. Wrote clear and concise theories of operation-as training aids-for
production test technicians.
. Successfully facilitated Task Force team meetings & projects (one team
won a Nat'l contest).
