. The function of directing an independent, full-scale, technical multi-

state income/franchise tax review attempting to discover corporate tax

liability savings/recovery for fortune 500 companies became the

central role of employment. Conducted technical reviews for every

taxing jurisdiction that has a state income tax and for every state

filing methodology (i.e. separate company, combined, consolidated).

Reviewed, evaluated, and discussed other non-senior staff members'

work product.

. Serviced a broad array of large corporate clients including, but not

limited to: Global Pharmaceuticals, Global Retailers, Heavy

Manufacturers, Conglomerates, and Medical Device Manufacturers.

Annual revenues for clientele in the billions. Annual aggregate state

income tax expense for clientele in the millions.

. Assisted clients by performing state income tax audit assessment

reductions by reviewing a clients filing position searching for

"offsetting" items, and also ensuring the legitimacy and applicability

of a state income tax auditor's positions and findings.

. Conducted complex research/analysis (using CCH and BNA) of a variety

of corporate state tax issues for all state and local taxing

jurisdictions, including but not limited to: intangible expense add-

backs (i.e. CT, NJ, NC), the distinction between business and non-

business income, appropriate "sourcing" of apportionment factor

figures, unitary business principles (required combined/consolidated

reporting), and the expense attribution to items of allocable income

(i.e. LA, OH, NYS).

. Continued to carry out the responsibilities and role of a Tax Analyst

and Tax Specialist at a higher, more advanced and seasoned level.

. Acted as a mentor/teacher for all newly hired tax analysts, associates

and other staff members.

. Monitored state income tax law changes and developments for all

states.

. Researched Federal Income Tax issues and the subsequent impact on

state and local filings. For example, federal Section 382

limitations, charitable contribution limitations, federal Section 280C

limitations, etc.

. Developed future state income tax planning strategies for clients such

as elective consolidated filings in state taxing jurisdictions which

allow such, and state enterprise zone qualifications (such as MA, NYS,

CA) in order to receive enhanced state credit/incentive benefits.

. Assisted Tax Managers in communicating developed tax savings issues

and recovery opportunities to clients during the entirety of a typical

service engagement.

. In the roles of Tax Analyst and Tax Specialist, was responsible for

the production, review, and processing of amended state

income/franchise tax returns originating from the settlement of

Federal audits (RAR's) for every state and local taxing jurisdiction.

Most engagements handled were extremely large covering up to ten years

worth of amended filings, with many entities/subsidiaries affected.

The number of returns amended per year was in the thousands. Some

single engagements were in the thousands of returns.

. Reconciled all state income tax returns available for review to the

corporation's Federal consolidated income tax return (Federal

Consolidated 1120).

. Analyzed Federal audit work-papers (RAR's) and the resulting effects

of each Federal adjustment on all of a client's state filings,

regardless of the filing methodology employed (i.e. separate company,

unitary, combined, or consolidated).

. Traveled to various corporate client headquarters to gather required

tax returns for review and to meet with key employees of the

respective tax departments.

. Interviewed, trained and developed new hires, summer/full time

interns, and co-ops to carry out day to day responsibilities.

Reviewed new hire, associate, and intern work product.

. Prepared correspondence to/with clients and state departments of

revenue. Contacted and questioned state tax officials regarding

specific state statute or regulation issues.

. Handled state notices and other similar tax inquiries regarding a

particular client's filing position.

. Conducted state Net Operating Loss ("NOL") analysis, state credit and

incentive studies (mainly state R&D and employment credits),

apportionment analysis (sourcing of income), and other state specific

exercises.

. Uncovered potential tax exposure items for clients during the

technical review process.

. Key review member of a service team that was responsible for reducing

a three-year New York State Corporate Franchise tax assessment (audit)

for a global pharmaceutical company and several of their subsidiaries

by over $6.0 million.

. Twice received DuCharme, McMillen & Associates' Presidential Award for

meeting yearly team revenue goal ($1,000,000) for Providence, RI

office. Received award at annual company convention in Nassau,

Bahamas. In 2005 (2006 award), part of a team that collected $1.9

million in fees from client savings.
