A 20MM manufacturer of gravity and power conveyor systems.
The company has moved to Suwanee, Georgia as of November 2009
Materials Manager
Responsible for Purchasing, Planning and Shipping activities including
sourcing in Taiwan and China.
. Worked with co-workers on a $1.5MM annual cost savings program
consisting of both direct savings from purchased parts as well as
manufacturing process savings.
. Managed the final stages of the move to Georgia including parts and
equipment shipment, plant floor clean up and cancellation of all
leases for various shop floor and office equipment. Spent several
weeks in Georgia assisting with the transition and continuing with
training for my successors.
Automated Packaging Systems, Inc. - Streetsboro, OH
2001 - 2007
A 120MM manufacturer of automated bagging systems and customer specific
plastic bags utilizing BAAN ERP software.
Materials Manager - Machinery Division
Responsible for Production and Inventory Control and Purchasing functions
at the machinery division.
. Educated the Planning and Purchasing groups on MRP/Master
Scheduling/Purchasing techniques and improved inventory accuracy
resulting in reduced inventory of 2.5MM dollars (*52% Decrease) and
increased on time delivery from 63% over the first quarter '01 to
consistently over 90% by year end. On time delivery at departure at over
98%.
. FY '07 cost savings at over $750,000 thousand dollars. Final amount over
$1,000,000.
. Initiated a review of actual sales to forecast (S&OP) resulting in
timely MPS adjustments resulting in reduced inventories and reduced lead-
time on machinery availability.
. Worked with Manufacturing Engineering to implement Lean Manufacturing
principals in the shop floor manufacturing cells which reduced the
assembly lead time from one week to 2 days for basic print & pack
systems.
. Revised the Production meeting format which has improved the overall
communication plant wide and increased ownership of problems and issues
by the appropriate departments.
. Assumed Sourcing and Purchasing duties for the Plastics Division Process
Engineering Group.
. With IT support, initiated the implementation of the E-Ventus Corp. web
based purchasing/planning system that has currently automated over 50%
of the purchase order activity in the Machinery Division.
Ridge Tool Company - Elyria, OH 1989 - 2001
A $280 MM manufacturing division of the Emerson Electric Corporation, Ridge
Tool is a manufacturer of mechanical and electromechanical equipment for
the plumbing and general construction industry.
Unit Manager - Wrench/Paint Departments (1994 - 2001)
Responsible for developing and managing an I.S.O. certified, high volume,
repetitive three shift department of over eighty hourly and five salary
personnel producing product in support of $60 million dollars in annual
sales. Processes under my control included high volume machining and
assembly, various heat treating systems and two powder paint systems.
Developed and implemented departmental improvements resulting in:
Increased production output from less than 5000 units/day to over 8000
units/day.
Productivity increases from 62% to 104%.
Increased R.I.P. inventory turns from 4.5/yr to over 13/yr.
Reduced monthly scrap from $30K+/mth to an average of less than $2K/mth.
Back orders reduced from $2.5 million to $0 over the course of 18 months.
Operator efficiency increased from 115% to over 150%.
Initiated and implemented policies that directly reduced employee turnover
and increased safety awareness resulting in no lost time accidents from
September of 1997 until my departure.
Developed a General Work Instruction format used plant wide in support of
I.S.O. certification.
Sponsored departmental T.Q.M. and Kaizen Blitz teams resulting in improved
quality and material flow.

Production and Inventory Control Supervisor - Machines and Accessories
Department (1991 - 1994)
Responsible for the supervision of six P&IC personnel in a repetitive and
job shop environment that produced product in support of $160 million in
annual sales.
Modified MRP system parameters and revised the Master Production Scheduling
as an aid in consistently achieving our production and inventory goals over
this time frame.
Identified bottleneck work centers, managed these cells and selected
components for outsourcing.
Created a team environment between the planning group and shop floor
personnel.
Trained the planning group and new hires on M.R.P. II system revisions.
Production and Inventory Planner/Buyer - Wrench Department (1990 - 1991)
Responsible for all Master Scheduling, Production and Inventory planning
and Purchasing. Involved in implementing the B.P.I.C.S. M.R.P II planning
system.
Revised the Master Production Schedule and overall Production and Inventory
planning as an aid in consistently achieving our production and inventory
targets over this time frame.
Increased production output by 100% from 4000 units/day to 8000 units/day.
Operator efficiency increased from 120% to almost 160%.
Backorders were reduced from $1.8MM to $0 within 7 months.
