Successfully restructured and combined 3 existing Districts to 1 new Market
team format driving sales to $989,000,000 with a 10.4% sales growth in
Houston, TX. Increased profit growth of District by 10% while expanding one
store and opening another ground-up unit. Led a marketing strategy that
planned for the total market and the diversity with-in each Market sub-
area.
Directed Wal-Mart store expansion from 120,000 sq. ft. to a 248,000 sq. ft.
Supercenter, on-time and within budget. Company wanted to add food
operations to store. Coordinated operations, store planning and
construction. Grew employee base by 200 within eight weeks. Managed
expansion as well as remodeling of existing business. Established
merchandise plan/pricing for new business to remain competitive. Led
marketing campaign, enabling successful opening.
Reduced shrinkage from 1.72% to .35% over three years in store with $108M
annual sales. Turned around store that previously had nine consecutive
years of unacceptable high shrink. Established inventory tracking systems
and policies/procedures to protect assets. Implemented operational controls
and guidelines to ensure safety and eliminate risk. Created accountability
structure, assigning employees to very specific tasks.
Streamlined operations/training, raising productivity from $93 to $123
sales per man-hour in all district stores. As District Manager in Central
Oregon, visited stores to assess cause of low productivity. Reviewed
scheduling and combined two overnight stocking crews into one to eliminate
overlap. Implemented new training procedures, assigning employees into
growth sales areas to improve productivity and customer service.
Instituted 24-hour opening strategy, leading to $2M increase in sales
revenue in two stores in first year. No 24-hour stores existed in Central
Oregon. Challenged to dramatically increase sales during busy holiday
season. Converted two of largest volume stores to 24-hour openings at
Thanksgiving and retained them for entire year, adding only eight new
staff. Instituted plan throughout organization, enabling 90% of region's
stores to go to 24-hour operations.
Maintained QA and regulatory compliance audits at highest levels when store
expanded to incorporate full grocery center. As store expanded to a
Supercenter, outside QA audits were mandatory. Developed/implemented
training on handling prepared foods and sanitation. Negotiated with vendors
for highest quality meats and baked goods at best prices. Mandated weekly
audits for accountability and compliance, ensuring product safety for
customers.

son. Texas Sun Pools and Spas is a swimming pool service, maintenance and
repair company. The new business will return 31% on investment 1st year.

stores in Houston, TX and seven stores in Central Oregon. Managed $1B
budget and 4400 employees. Introduced and developed the Supercenter brand
