Site Structural Engineer - Arcapita Head Quarter - Bahrain
Currently, as Site Structural Engineer I'm responsible for delivery of
major structural works (Steel and Concrete).
Besides liaising with design office and ensure on time delivery of design
works, I'm responsible for monitoring site progress against approved
construction program.
Technically I chair steel co-ordination meetings in presence of contractor
PM and client PM. Also assist Resident Engineer in Reviewing and approving
concrete mix design, review and approve the contractor's proposed Batching
Plant and Testing Lab, review and comment on contractor's submittals,
inspect works at site and provide comments on inspections requests, review
and reply to contractors RFI's, coordinate between all parties for the
various technical matters, witness testing of some materials as per site
requirements, maintain continuous inspection of works at site and issue the
necessary Remedial Notes for any defected works observed onsite, ensure
proper use of the project various approved forms, review and comment on
general Civil Engineering method statements, review and comment on proposed
sub-contractors documents, monitor the enforcement of safety issues onsite
and report immediately on any violation, ensure inspection requests and
shop drawings are properly coordinated, review and comment on contractor
claims for variation orders and issue recommendations to the RE, lead
joiner engineers and site inspectors and keep them aware of all issues
related to inspection and provide the necessary support, supervise the
contractor's submittals of contract close out documents such as as-built
drawings, warranties, manuals etc, review of contractor's monthly
report and comment on it, Review and comment on any contractor's requests
for materials substitutions, participate in preparation of monthly report,
participate in site meetings.
Furthermore, I was assigned as Assistant Site Architect starting from
January 2009. This new duty has fostered my technical competency since it
opened another dimension by linking structural work with architectural
considerations.
In addition to the above, it is my responsibility to negotiate with the
Client and Client Project Manager the proposed changes that have big impact
on the Project delivery. Participate in project risk management workshops.

HYDER CONSULTING - (Graduate Engineer) BRIDGES
Fourth Ring Road (Kuwait City, Kuwait) Improvement Scheme:
. Assist Senior Bridge Engineers in prepare and revise AIP (Approval in
Principal) for Steel Foot Bridges
. Prepare Preliminary Design of steel foot bridge. Three options were
prepared according to AASHTO requirement for foot bridges, all options
were Truss Steel Bridges with different spans (35, 40,45m) depends on
the carriageway width. The bridges consist of CHS for top, bottom and
diagonal chords with arched canopy forming the roof of the foot bridge,
and each bridge has a reinforced concrete staircase and foot ramp in
each side of the carriageway. All loads were carried out according to
AASHTO 2004.
. Supervise the CAD technician in prepare the GA according the
AIP.
. Assessment of the options prepared using SuperSTRESS.
Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway Phase Five "Zallaq Bridge"
. Assist Senior Bridge Engineers in reviewing design calculations for
reinforced concrete bridges, including seven-spans superstructures,
substructures and foundations in accordance to BS 5400.
. Assist Senior Engineer in preparing proposals, preliminary and detailed
design of bridges and highway structures.
. Assist Senior Engineers in various project management tasks.
. Participating in meeting with the clients to resolve any
potential prior to final acceptance of projects.
