SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT. (Temporary assignment in San Juan, Puerto Rico)
Assisted with the engineering design for the after-fire recovery of the
Palo Seco Power Plant in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
(URS) Westinghouse Anniston (ANCDF), Anniston, AL.
INSTRUMENT DESIGN ENGINEER. NOTE: Anniston Chemical Agent Disposal
Facility (ANCDF) is a Department of Defense facility designed for the
thermal destruction of the U. S. Army's stockpile of chemical mustard and
nerve agents. Research and design instrumentation packages for new or
replacement instrument and control systems. Update engineering drawings
such as P&IDs, Loop Diagrams, and Interconnection Wiring Diagrams to
reflect new instrument installations. Write work package instructions for
the installation of new or replacement instrument systems. Interface with
other departments such as Environmental (Regulatory Compliance), Lab
(Emissions Monitors) and Automation (PLC Programming). Provide technical
support on instrumentation issues to System Engineers, Maintenance, and
Operations. Maintain clearances required by the U.S. Army for Unescorted
Access (UAP) to the Chemical Limited Area.
MAINTENANCE (I&E) LEAD. Supervise Instrument Technicians to calibrate,
troubleshoot and repair PLC controlled instrumentation and control systems.
Supervise Electrical Technicians to repair and maintain electrical
equipment, distribution panels and switchgear. Prepare Job Safety
Analyses, Lock Out/Tag Out, Confined Space Entry and other work package
documentation relating to all corrective and preventive maintenance of the
Anniston Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (ANCDF). Maintain clearances
required by the U.S. Army for Exclusionary Access (EAP) to the Chemical
Limited Area.
CONTROL ROOM SUPERVISOR. Directly supervise up to eight Control Room
Operators responsible for the elimination of the U.S. Army's stockpile of
chemical weapons of mass destruction at the Anniston Chemical Agent
Disposal Facility (ANCDF).
INSTRUMENT AND CONTROLS (I&C) ENGINEER. Member of the Furnace Team
responsible for the startup of instrumentation and control systems on three
incinerator lines, and their Pollution Abatement Systems, during
systemization of ANCDF. Work involved the use of electronic databases, and
P&IDs, as well as troubleshooting instrument installations and operations
of PLC controlled equipment and robots in the field. Established databases
for instrument calibration ranges and set points. Directed I&C Technicians
on issues concerning instrumentation on furnaces and the pollution
abatement system. Researched alternate suppliers for obsolete or "no
longer supported" instrumentation. Experience includes extensive training
on-site and at the Chemical Demilitarization Training Facility located on
the U. S. Army's Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Edgewood, Maryland. Passed
security clearances required for the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program
necessary for access to chemical munitions.
