Experience
Agent Sales and Management, Independent Insurance Broker. Jackson, MS
September 2007- Present
My responsibilities are two fold: To professionally promote health, life,
and related product sales in the state of Mississippi with the goal of
achieving sales growth and increased market share and to recruit, hire,
train, and develop leadership within our company. Particular emphasis is
given to the tri-county area of Hinds, Rankin, and Madison counties.
Managed and trained 7 agents in Mississippi and southern Tennessee.
Agent Sales, Reserve National Insurance Co. Jackson, MS February 2003-
September 2007
I was primarily responsible for marketing a vast array of health insurance
products to individuals and businesses across rural Mississippi. A
particular emphasis was placed on farm and farm related businesses. I
successfully built a strong book of business in 53 counties within the
state. I recruited and field-trained agents for the company. I executed
these duties through warm market referrals and cold call prospecting.
. Achieved ranking number of 27 among 250+ agents in annual sales.
. Qualified for company trip in 2005, 2006, and 2007.
. Multiple award winner of monthly and quarterly contests
Manager and Owner, The Land Collection, Louisville and Madison, MS October
1996 -October 2004.
I was in charge of hiring and training personnel, bookkeeping, inventory
control, purchasing and receiving. I developed specific short and long-
term business management plans to accomplish sales goals, build a team of
qualified personnel, and to maintain customer loyalty and knowledge of our
products. Also, I am experienced in cold-call selling of tailored clothing
and sportswear to area business professionals. I have a strong
entrepreneurial spirit.
Laboratory Technician, Winston Medical Center, Louisville, MS August 1994 -
September 1998.
My duties included drawing blood samples, collecting urine specimens, and
subjecting them to an array of diagnostic testing procedures: blood
counts, coagulation studies, chemical analysis, urinalysis, and glucose
testing. I assisted with the maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory
equipment such as the Kodak 250 Chemistry Analyzer and the Coulter Blood
Counter. I also assisted with the onsite training of new laboratory
personnel and worked closely with the purchasing department to ensure an
uninterrupted flow of laboratory supplies. Through this process I
developed a strong personal relationship with patients, co-workers, and the
ordering physicians. These relationships were built on trust, ability, and
knowledge of my field. I worked the majority of my shift independently but
learned the value of cross-departmental teamwork to provide the best
overall healthcare humanly possible. I was also responsible for on-call
duty from 11:00PM until 5:00AM five nights per week.
