EXPERIENCE SUMMARY
Wackenhut Services Incorporated Serves as the Manager of the Occupational
Safety and Health Department for a paramilitary security contractor at a
large U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) site outside Aiken, South Carolina.
Directs the performance of eight staff members. Participates as a member
of the Integrated Safety, Safety Performance Analysis, and Integrated
Safeguards and Security Committees. Directs Integrated Safety Management
(ISM) functions, Safety Controller functions for performance testing
activities, 10 CFR 851 (Worker Safety and Health Program) initiatives, and
Human Performance Improvement (HPI) initiatives. Serves on the Readiness
Team. Formerly served as the served as the Senior Technical Environment,
Safety, and Health (ES&H) Advisor (2006-2008) and as the Manager of the
Occupational Safety and Health Department (1998-2006). Monitored the
performance of seven staff members, including their involvement in ongoing
procedure development/revision and scheduled occupational safety and health
assessments and surveillances. Served as a member of the Integrated Safety
Committee. Directed DOE Voluntary Protection Program (DOE-VPP) efforts.
Brown & Root Environmental Performed Occupational Safety and Industrial
Hygiene Specialist duties. Prepared for, planned, and conducted
occupational safety and health assessments (e.g., participated in three
occupational safety program audits at two uranium enrichment plants during
1995-1997). Selected assessment criteria, prepared lines of inquiry for
interviews, and conducted field investigations. Prepared assessment
reports listing violations of requirements, describing causes and
consequences, and recommending corrective actions for problem resolution.
Assisted clients in program development and revision of safety procedures
and program manuals. Evaluated employee concerns regarding occupational
safety and health issues.
Also, performed Project Manager duties on both technical and business
development projects. Served as the company's Proposal Manager for a major
proposal prepared by the company and several teaming partners in response
to a major government client's Request for Proposal for technical support
services for a five-year period beginning in 1997. Involved in a variety
of other proposal preparation and business development efforts from 1991
through 1997.
Also, previously served as Manager of the Safety and Information Systems
Department. Directed the activities of a staff of 19, who provided
occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, fire protection,
computer systems, and information management support to industrial and
governmental clients. Ensured that schedules and budgets were met,
technical resources were located and utilized to their full potential, and
work processes were implemented to achieve client satisfaction.
In 1993, founded the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) Process Safety
Management (PSM) Working Group, a group of local industry representatives
who met periodically to exchange PSM information and to discuss successful,
compliance-directed implementation strategies. Served as the Working
Group's facilitator until 1995.
Babcock & Wilcox As Safety Engineer, administered the Industrial Safety
Program for the Insulating Products Division (refractory ceramic
fibers/refractory products manufacturing) in Augusta, Georgia. Revised the
accident investigation procedure. Prepared the written Hazard
Communication Program. Directed the preparation and revision of Material
Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and container labeling for division products.
Assisted in revising a product safety and health pamphlet and preparing
videotapes for customer use. Trained employees on safety and health topics
such as hazard communication, hearing protection, and respiratory
protection. Conducted periodic surveys of manufacturing and office areas,
and submitted and tracked corrective action recommendations.
Southwire Company As the Corporate Safety & Workers' Compensation
Director, administered the Industrial Safety Program and the self-insured
Workers' Compensation Program for an aluminum and copper wire and cable
manufacturer in Carrollton, Georgia. Supervised three Safety Engineers and
one Workers' Compensation Assistant. Testified as the company
representative at monthly State Board of Workers' Compensation hearings.
Initiated filing for and obtained reimbursement from the state Subsequent
Injury Trust Fund for expenditures on all eligible cases. Directed and
documented the activities of claimants, attorneys, physicians, and
rehabilitation specialists on all Workers' Compensation claims. As the
Senior Safety Engineer, administered the Industrial Safety Program for the
Utility Products Plant. Investigated all employee injuries. Conducted
periodic surveys of manufacturing and office areas, and submitted and
tracked corrective action recommendations. Conducted new employee safety
orientations. Prepared monthly safety and health training topics for
distribution to supervisors.
Liberty Mutual Insurance Company As Senior Loss Prevention
Representative, evaluated hazards and existing control mechanisms within
policyholders' operations and facilities in North and South Carolina,
including but not limited to the following categories: construction,
textile manufacturing, service/mercantile, newspaper printing, stevedoring,
