Professional Experience

Instructional Design Consultant

Clarity Consultants (February 2008 - Present) (Houston, TX and Remote from

Austin)

Client - Affiliated Computer Services (ACS)

Key Accomplishments:

. Developed a six week blended learning program for petroleum engineers and

geologists. The program included two weeks of computer based training and

four weeks of classroom learning. Projected savings for the client = 10

months of training costs.

. Consulted with stakeholders and upper management to design e-learning

solutions to reach a geographically dispersed audience. Collaborated with

vendors to develop 25 e-learning courses. Tasks involved needs analysis,

storyboarding, content gathering, course design and technical writing.

. Designed a three week intensive classroom course for new employees

entering the company. The design of this technical course featured

interactive elements such as group discussions, exercises, quizzes and

evaluations to engage learners.

. Audited a one week instructor led training for content relevancy,

soundness of learning objectives, instructor delivery and evaluation

methodology.

. Displayed instructional design acumen in 5 instructor guides. These

guides provided a roadmap for the instructors to conduct the learning.

Components included learning objectives, talking points and interactive

activities for learners.

. Coordinated with 12 Subject Matter Experts (SME) to accumulate content

for classroom and online learning programs. This coordination required

astute client handling skills because of conflicting SME priorities.

. Diagnosed 7 e-learning programs for instructional soundness and proposed

Instructional Design Lead - Computer Based Training

Continental Airlines (May 2004 - February 2008) (Houston, TX)

Key Accomplishments:

. Launched 16 computer based training programs for Continental's

maintenance technicians. Topics for the training ranged from operating

complex aircraft systems to interpreting maintenance manuals. Each

project consisted of industry research, audience analysis, course

development, testing, and feedback analysis.

. Designed three highly complex online simulations for Continental's

various airplane types. Each simulation included 50 interactive screens,

voice-overs, closed captioning, menu design, replications of airplane

panels and a final assessment.

. Governed the development of a custom e-learning template for development

of all future projects. This template significantly reduced development

time of e-learning modules. The template guided developers through an

instructional process which ensured standardization and consistency of

all e-learning.

. Supervised a team of 4 internal developers over the span of four years.

Mentored this team and implemented a development process which included

the collaboration of all team members.

. Facilitated a paperless training environment where each training program

would automatically update a technician's training record. Each course

would have a unique training code and upon successful completion, the

course would update the training record with a training code.

. Worked closely with the FAA and contract maintenance personnel to develop

an online training package for domestic and international contractors.

This package was built in Adobe Flash and included 5 modules with post

tests and a final evaluation with randomized questions.

Technical Writer and Illustrator

WellDynamics - A Venture between Shell and Halliburton (September 2001 -

April 2004) (Spring, TX)

Key Accomplishments:

. Created 4 training modules for various engineered equipment. These

modules were created with the cooperation of technical engineers and

simulated detailed operation of tools for clients.

. Wrote and published 16 instructional, operational, service and sales

manuals. Each manual consisted of 25-40 specification sheets and

operating procedures.

. Collaborated with the Business Development Manager to create executive

summaries and analysis documents for presentation to prospective clients.

These documents focused on methods to increase production, increase

revenue, reduce capital expenditure and reduce operating expenditure.
