My nearly 17 years of progressive experience in the field of Inventory
Control starts as an order picker for Majestic Athletic. Moving on to
Owens and Minor I transfer my skills learned in the clothing industry to
the same position in the Medical field. I quickly become folk-lift
certified and remain certified to the present day. There is a steady
progression up the ranks first as a Receiving Coordinator in the shipping
and receiving department for 3 years and then on to Inventory Control
Coordinator for 3 years until my promotion to Lead of Inventory Control.
In 2004 came my promotion to Inventory Control Supervisor. In 2007 I was
asked to assume the challenge of Inventory Control Specialist as a
troubleshooter and problem solver for the implementation of new
specialized computer software and systems which I enthusiastically
accepted. Due to the poor economic times the Company has recently
permanently downsized eliminating my position.
Achievements
My first opportunity to help the company came while working as the
Receiving Coordinator. I noticed that we were inefficiently positioning
and stacking our products in a manner that required the pickers to travel
extraordinary distances to pick their product. Using my new system we
save thousands of hours of picker time each year by rearranging how we
locate the product.
As a supervisor I got the best from my people by employing the philosophy
that you get more from people using sugar rather then vinegar. This
proved true as I established a sense of loyalty and trust between myself
and my employees to the point that they enthusiastically did what I asked
of them and more.
For the last 3 years I have been implementing new software systems which
are increasing productivity and profitability even as you read this.
These systems include: Cubiscan laser and weighing system, Distribution
Center Optimizer, Client Server Warehousing Inventory Tracking and
Management, Omni (Owens and Minors Custom Customer Ordering and Inventory
Purchasing software), Business Objects report customizer, On-Demand
Reports and the Microsoft Office Package of Software. As the "go to guy"
for these systems I have been designated by my fellow employees as the
systems guru. By pitching in fixing software problems and training other
employees on the new software systems thousands of man hours are being
saved annually.
