CROMPTON GREAVES LTD., INDIA Sep 2007 - Apr 2008
Engineer Intern
This project was part of the final year Engineering Curriculum. It was one
year program with one day a week allotted as a project day. This project
was sponsored by Crompton Greaves Ltd, India. Crompton Greaves is the
manufacturer of HT switchgear, manufacturing Breakers 3.3kV to 400kV,
Instrument Transformer (CT/PT) 66kV to 400kV, CVT 66kV to 400kV, Lighting
Arrester 11kV to 400kV.
Project Title Crompton Greaves Ltd, India- Semi Automated Circuit
Breaker Monitoring System
Project Goals The circuit breaker is one of the most important
units in the electrical power system. The electrical
control units on industrial circuit breakers are
used to operate the breaker while manual tests are
carried out to store information about breaker
including its settings and trip history. This
project mainly focused on implementing an automated
monitoring and testing system for the circuit
breakers manufactured at Crompton Greaves. This
circuit has hence been implemented at the Crompton
Greaves Facility at Nashik, and has not only
increased their production of circuit breakers but
also improved the efficiency of the tests performed
on the breakers.
