industrial elevators including refineries, offshore drilling platforms and
other hazardous applications.
. Introduced over $870,000 in product and process cost savings over a
year and a half period.
. Provided leadership from the US division for an international
technology team responsible for bringing new technology to the
company's product line. This is a team comprised of members from the
US, Sweden, Italy and Holland.
. Introduced and implemented the phase gate project process for the
international technology team to provide a common project
implementation process for all of our global locations.
. In addition to technical leadership, also provide direction for the
departments of documentation control and Quality Control for the US
operation.
. Coordinate overseas projects involving US product lines.
Waltco Truck Equipment Co. - Akron, Ohio
Manager of Product Innovation and Technical Support / Engineering Manager
Promoted from Engineering Manager to Manager of Product Innovation and
Technical Support. Directed product planning and engineering design
activities for the world leader in the design and manufacturing of
liftgates for the material handling and trucking industry.
. Facilitated the redesign of Waltco's premium liftgate product
resulting in a $100,000 annual cost savings, elimination of a
significant number of parts through the use of DFMA and reduced
installation time by 25%.
. Was integral in leading a team working with a major retail store in
solving their material handling needs. This resulted in the company
obtaining the largest single order in the history of the liftgate
industry for over $28 million while transforming the way they
distributed their product.
. Implemented over $1.3 million in cost reduction and product
improvements.
. Instrumental in developing the company's strategic marketing plan
that resulted in a patent pending business process.
. Directed Engineering efforts between the corporation's Finnish,
Swedish and German manufacturing facilities to modify European
product designs to suit the US market requirements.
. In addition to leading engineering activities, directed the efforts
in Quality Control, Warranty Administration and Field Service in
multiple plants across the US.
. Successfully secured a major project award with a leading US dry
freight trailer manufacturer to design a family of products that
could be seamlessly installed on their assembly line
. Was a primary participant in winning the corporations first Ivory
Award from Finland's world headquarters for the most successful
project of the year.
. Lead the conversion to a mainstream CAD package for the corporation's
product engineering team while maintaining other ongoing project time
lines. This implementation was used as a benchmark for AutoDesk in
their regional publication and marketing promotions.
. As Chairman of the Product Planning committee proposed and
implemented a restructuring of the entire corporate product line to
simplify marketability and decrease manufacturing overhead.
. Received the NorTech' Innovation award three years for product
designs and improvements
. Lead the supplier and engineering team in a redesign of their
hydraulic power unit to eliminate 83% of the fittings and 50% of the
hoses. This resulted in significantly less leak points and higher
customer satisfaction while achieving it at a lower cost.
. Lead the liftgate industry in implementing TMC (Technology and
Maintenance Council) recommended practices for improved wiring and
electrical enhancements. This resulted in higher quality electrical
systems and reduced warranties.
. Introduced digital CAD drawings to the manufacturing facilities to
eliminate errors due to outdated paper drawings.
. Designed Waltco's first reduced maintenance liftgates to achieve
higher quality and increased product life.
. Holder of several patented products and lead our Engineering team in
winning additional patents for the liftgate industry.
. Lead a cross-functional team in the redesign of the corporation's
premium rail gate product that lead to significant market advantages
over the competition.
. Introduced 12 new designs into the company's product offering to
replace an aging product line.
. Redesigned major components on the liftgate from multi-part weldments
to a single piece formed sheet metal parts that greatly increased the
throughput of those parts while significantly reducing part count and
cost.
. Actively involved in the company's product liability and litigation
defense efforts through participation in depositions, interrogatories
and product safety efforts and recommendations.
. Chairman for TMC (Technology and Maintenance Council) task forces to
lead efforts in improving practices for the truck and trailer
industry in the U.S.
. Directed a staff of Field Technical support engineers that conducted
industry training and field troubleshooting. These leading efforts
reduced warranty costs and increased customer loyalty.
. Served as a key member of Waltco's supplier team group that reviewed
and approved sole source suppliers for Waltco.
. Introduced project teams and time lines to achieve on target and on
time engineering projects.
. Heavily involved with customer interaction and presentation of new
product releases, development of new product concepts through
customer feedback and winning new major product contracts by solving
their material handling issues.
