Ascent is the world's largest reprocessing company. My duties were

vast as was the district to which I was assigned. My primary

responsibilities were to increase business within my current

accounts and to ascertain new business in Vermont, New Hampshire,

New York, and Massachusetts; as well as Maine and Connecticut for

a period of time. Through evaluating usage information procured by

my customers I was responsible for forecasting business in my

district. Aside from needing accounting skills, this job also

demanded strong communication skills as I was responsible for the

entire sales cycle from the first meeting with a client to the

implementation of the agreed upon cost-saving strategy and the

constant maintenance activities that the accounts required.

Account maintenance consisted of a variety of tasks ranging in

difficulty from something as simple as collecting and shipping of

medical devices to be reprocessed to something as time-consuming

and complex as meeting with, and educating, surgeons and support

personnel about our products and then sitting in on cases to

insure proper device use.

This department is responsible for the cleaning, inspection,

testing and sterilization of medical devices. One of my primary

Awards duties was to reduce error rates in the assembly of surgical kits,

which was accomplished by developing the first ever video book

with pictures and detailed instructions on how to clean and

reassemble kits. I was also the first person to develop an

automated inventory autoclaving record keeping system. Responsible

for a million dollar budget, I had to develop benchmarks on

current trends as far as usage, identify which trends were

starting to effect budgets and identify things that were put in

place to keep the department from running in the red. I helped

develop technology to save time, and assemble surgical kits in a

cost-effective manner. I was instrumental in designing and

implementing a new sterile reprocessing department model that

created greater efficiency in the department and resulted in a

better working environment for the staff.
