Oversee the manufacturing operation over three shifts, with four
Manufacturing Managers, and over 200 hourly employees for large hardwood
stair parts manufacturer. Improve productivity by using continuous
improvement tactics applying the elements of Lean Production. Develop,
document, and implement processes for manufacturing new parts and improving
the existing product line. Cooperate with Sales and Marketing to develop
special packaging and procedures for customer demands, reducing the lead
times, and improving on-time delivery. Team up with Human Resource on
recruiting, evaluating work performance, handling personnel issues,
employee separations when necessary, and establishing and maintaining
behavioral safety standards. Work together with the Vice President of
Manufacturing to develop operating budget for manufacturing. Collaborate
with Production Planning and Purchasing Department to establish JIT
inventories, supplies, and quality of finish goods and raw materials. Work
with Engineer Department on product development and new equipment. Conduct
cross functional team training, coaching, and mentoring.
Selected Achievements:
. Create and implement the packaging procedure for the company's
largest account.
. Document detail procedures and issue Standard Operating Procedures
for training guides.
. Work in partnership with other company departments to reduce the
lead time from 4 weeks to a 1 week, with a 99.99% on time delivery
to the customer.
. Work with the manufacturing mangers on reducing downtime and
improving set up times using Statistically Process Control.
. Serve on Safety Task Force to develop employee behavior
expectations and objectives necessary to establish a strong culture
for safety.
