OBJECTIVE
Plant Manager-Lean Manufacturing, where proven strengths in leadership and creative problem
solving will ensure a company’s goals are met and exceeded through enhanced safety and
environmental records, improved productivity and reduced costs.
BACKGROUND SUMMARY
Extensive engineering and project/plant management skills in a chemical plant environment:
Leader of high performing teams
Used statistical process techniques to bring processes in control
Managed small and large capital projects
Optimized chemical processes
Reduced significant costs in plant utilities
Debottlenecked complex processes
Automated complex process with the goal of reducing cost
Scaled up chemical processes from lab to commercial operations
Implemented preventive maintenance programs
ISO 9000 Implementation
Updated HS&E corporate manual
PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
o Designed & directed pilot plant tests, optimized chemical processes, and reduced cycle time in
plant’s aluminum chlorohydrate manufacturing. This increased the plant’s capacity by 140%.
o To secure future of the plant, implemented cross training, developed self work teams, and
increased process capability. This resulted in increased productivity and 24% reduction of
work force. Profitability of the plant increased from $200K to $900K/YR.
o Motivated and directed R&D team to design experiments in the laboratory to identify critical
process parameters with the goal of increasing the yield of DMPA. The project was
implemented in the production plant, increasing the yield from 50% to 62% and saving the
business $800K per year in labor, energy and raw materials.
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
o Technical Director, GEO Specialty Chemicals, Ambler, PA. Responsible for all product
development, improvement and application projects. Also responsible for providing technical
engineering support for the manufacturing facilities. Used engineering and management skills
to drive R&D projects (related to cost improvement, operating efficiency and capacity
addition) from laboratory to commercialization. (May 2007 – May 2010)
o Plant Manager, GEO Specialty Chemicals, Baltimore, MD. Led three high performing teams
to ensure the overall operation runs in a safe, efficient and profitable manner. (July 2003 –
May 2007)
o Technical Manager, GEO Specialty Chemicals, Harrison, NJ. Managed all capital projects for
the plant and for the corporate division. (April 1997 – July 2003)
o Project/Process Engineer, Henkel Corporation, Harrison, NJ. Held a variety of positions in
production, process/project engineering, plant engineering, and pilot plant. (August 1988 –
March 1997)
o Maintenance Engineer, Ashland Oil. Implemented a preventive maintenance program for the
manufacturing plant and acted as maintenance supervisor in a unionized environment. (July
1986 – July 1988)
