instrumentation design specifications for control valves,
flow meters, field transmitters and various other field
instruments. Intensive use of SPI 7.0(INTOOLS). Prepared
purchase requisitions, reviewed quotations and made
recommendations for the successful vendor of equipment.
Also reviewed the work of other engineers working on the
job.

In this capacity, I developed instrumentation design specifications for control valves, flow meters, field transmitters and other various field instruments. Intools was the data base used for all control system record keeping. Prepared purchase requisitions for equipment. Reviewed quotations and made recommendations for the successful vendor of equipment.
These activities were for a new plastics plant.

In this capacity, I developed instrumentation design specifications for control valves, flow meters, field transmitters and other various field instruments. Intools was the data base used for all control system record keeping. I approved all field design documents such as installation drawings, revision of existing field panels, instrument loop diagrams and bulk material orders. Performed duties of lead control systems engineer as needed. Prepared purchase requisitions for equipment. Reviewed quotations and made recommendations for the successful vendor of equipment. These activities were for the refinery modifications related to the production of clean gasoline and diesel fuels.,December, 2001 to July, 2002

In this capacity, I developed P & IDs for gasoline de-sulfurization plants for Phillips 66, Valero Energy and Lyondale/Citgo. I also developed instrumentation design specification, cause and effect diagrams and control system operational narratives. Was working in a contract capacity and was layed off due to a down turn in business.
November,1989 to December, 2000
Instrument and Electrical maintenance group leader for BASF Corporation, Freeport, Texas. Supervised two instrument and electrical supervisors. They, in turn, had a total of 12 technicians working for them. Other responsibilities included developing I/E maintenance budgets for two operating plants and developing and implementing PM/Reliability programs. Miscellaneous activities included writing various capital appropriation requests and installing small maintenance related instrumentation projects. Most recent schooling has been six courses on Honeywell's TDC 3000 equipment and two maintenance courses on Foxboro's IA system. Most recent work at BASF was as a Technical Engineering Services engineer. In this capacity, I evaluated all utility flow meters across the plant site. This evaluation resulted in the upgrade of 30% of the entire Freeport plant's utility flow meters. Retired from BASF in December, 2000.
July, 1988 to April, 1989
Instrument and Electrical Engineer in the maintenance department, Westvaco Paper Co., Luke, Maryland. Responsibilities in this position included supervising the work activities of as many as eight electricians and instrument technicians, solving and/or troubleshooting equipment problems, ordering replacement and new equipment, setting up spare parts in the store house and conducting training on new equipment for maintenance personnel. The equipment involved included various microprocessor based control systems (Fisher Provox, Gould Modicon PLCs, Fischer and Porter Controllers) as well as standard motors and motor starting equipment. Some exposure to 13.8 kV switchgear is included.

Instrument engineer, Aramco Services Co., Houston, Texas and Aramco, Saudi Arabia. While in Houston, my responsibilities included evaluating contractor designs of plants to be built in Saudi Arabia, assisting field personnel in Saudi Arabia to solve operating problems by interfacing with US equipment vendors, review and edit of Aramco engineering design standards. While in Saudi Arabia, I was responsible for various in plant design changes as well as problem solving on various microprocessor based control systems.

Responsibilities included developing equipment specifications, evaluating bids, designing control systems and supervision of draftsmen in the design of a re-refined lube oil process. Also served as group leader for the Instrumentation and Electrical department.

Senior instrument engineer, Gulf Oil Co., Port Arthur, Texas. Responsibilities included solving operating problems concerning instrumentation, evaluation of contractor proposals and specification of instrumentation equipment in the Port Arthur, Texas refinery. As part of instrument specification development, I wrote the specifications for the first three TDC 2000 systems used at the Port Arthur refinery.
