Projects and Initiatives

1. Fertilizer Evaluation: Self initiated project completed in conjunction

with Chemistry 4B coursework. Using laboratory

analysis techniques such as bomb calorimetry and titration, the

feasibility of using ash from different kinds of tree bark

as fertilizers was assessed and reported.

2. Combined Irrigation and Power Production: Based on an original idea

from a science project. This involved a

non-invasive river filling procedure that allowed combined irrigation

and power generation from a water turbine. The

technique was proposed to government authorities, and later got

adopted in selected rural areas of Bangladesh.

3. Founder of high school Alumni Association: Worked with my high school

to set up an Alumni Association and

form an Executive Committee. Currently acting as the Director of

Community, and involved in creating a member

database and public relations.

Work Experience:

1. 06/2005 to 08/2005 and 06/2006 to 07/2006

Intern as an Assistant Transmission Manager.

Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation. (PetroBangla).

Job description included diverse field work, which involved

accompanying chief engineer on pipeline inspection duties.

Completed an extensive amount of paperwork, such as inspection reports

and technical data. Introduced the use of

infrared imaging in pipeline inspection to significantly hasten the

procedure.

2. 06/2009 to 08/2009

Assistant Programmer.

Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI), led by Lawrence Berkeley National

Laboratory.

Built visualization tools from scratch in MATLAB to represent

quantitative solutions of metabolic fluxes on metabolic

flux maps. These tools were then used to investigate the effects of

nutrient fluctuations and gene deletions on various

species to predict and propose the best organisms for biofuel

research.

Extracurricular:

- President of the Science Club of Greenherald Intl', actively involved

in interschool event managements. Editor of CHROME Chronicle, the

monthly newsletter published by the club.

- Lead speaker of high school Debating team; participated in interschool

and national TV events and UN model summits.

- Historian for Tau Beta Pi California Alpha chapter, the premium

Engineering Honor Society on campus.

Professional Aptitude: Experience with MATLAB, Java, UNIX environments, XML

coding, COMSOL, Aspen.
