2003 - 2009

Technical Management

. Managed HP's n-tier software, Serviceguard projects that provides

business and mission critical applications with 24x7 high availability

and recovery from system failures, running on both: HP-UX and Linux.

. Managed geographically diverse team of 7-10 development/test engineers

and managers to implement Serviceguard Projects utilizing Agile

methodology to track progress of the projects. Involved in

investigation, scoping, design, implementation, documentation and

overseeing successful completion through the release. Provided project

tracking, risk/budget analysis, sizing and estimation of task lists

for team members, resource allocation and responsible for managing the

closeout and retrospective meetings.

. Hands-on experience in designing and developing the projects utilizing

C and Java on Unix and Linux platforms. Developed the test case

documentation and implemented the test case scenarios using Object-

oriented Perl. The projects were implemented using Agile methodology

where each task of the project was developed as a "card deck". Heavily

involved in scrum and brainstorming sessions, coding and testing of

the "card deck", and tracking the velocity trend of the project.

. Analyzed Customer Requirements and acted as a Facilitator between high-

end stake holders: Project Managers, Technical Teams, Customer

Relations, Client Representatives and Support Engineers to ensure the

accurate translation of business requirements to engineering

requirements. Designed and delivered MS Powerpoint presentation to

Partners, Field Review and Support teams in a true global environment

spanning business consultants all over the world. Designed and

delivered training material used by Marketing teams to understand and

promote the projects. Main Projects included:

o The Application Maintenance Project: Reduced the maintenance

outage time of a high availability Serviceguard cluster by 95%

thus helping the customers upgrade their critical applications

while it was online.

o The Modular Package Project: Allowed configuration of

applications on multiple systems at the same time thereby

reducing the engineering time by 50%.

o The Cross-Subnet Project: Allowed a highly available application

to be associated with more than one subnet configured on

different nodes of the cluster. This ensured that 100% high

availability of an application due to a failure of a subnet.

o The Powerfail Testing Tool Project: Diagnosed and resolved

seamless transfer of a cluster package from one node to another

due to power failure of network hub or node. The tool required

test automation to detect the type of HP Enterprise servers (HP

9000 series, Proliant, Blade Servers, N-Class and Integrity) and

perform powerfail tests accordingly.

o HP Infrastructure and SDLC training Process: Implemented a

training infrastructure for new hires and interns to integrate

in HP environment and to get a quickstart in SDLC process.

Tracked the status and progress of the new employees via

VersionOne to ensure their productive integration in the new

environment.

. HP Lab Administration and Management: Designed and implemented a lab

with HP Enterprise Servers including NPARs, VPARs, HPVM, standalone

and clustered HPUX and Linux systems.

o Developed a repository of Microsoft Visio documents describing

clusters, networks and disk details.

o Developed and managed quarterly lab budget reports.

o Successfully managed two migrations of entire lab infrastructure

to support HP's consolidation plans.

. Web Services Consultant - Developed and designed Portal Technology

that worked as an internal Serviceguard framework allowing web

applications and project schedules/documents to access database

information in a graphical, user-friendly format. Responsibilities

included:

o Served as System Administrator for Internal Portal issues.

o Enhanced Portal features by implemented engineering requests to

Portal features and requirements. Implementations done in Python

and Ruby on Rails.

1997 - 2003

. Led a team for CAA (Cluster Application Availability Software for

Tru64 Unix) API Project. This required mapping customer requirements

to engineering requirements, developing and implementing the API in

C++.

. Led a Project to Port CAA code from Tru64 Unix to HP-UX. This required

investigating the difference in OS header files, libraries, STL C++,

Makefiles, Complier flags and options.
