Store Design & Construction - Project Management Executive
. Successful Interaction and Collaboration with Company Executives -
As a key strategist for Macy's Design & Construction, I
participated in Meetings, Workshops and Store Visits with Senior
Executives and Division Principals to establish Planning, Design &
Construction direction for major corporate initiatives. These task
force efforts ranged from Operational Planning Criteria, Project
Scope Development and Review of Completed Projects to Competitor
Analysis Trips in order to lay groundwork for Equipment Redesign
Projects, Complete Facility Redesign Projects and New Facility
Format Development Projects. These interactions required
comprehensive deliverables and presentations back to Executive
Management for review and approval. All follow-up, deliverables
and presentations required a thorough consensus among Planning,
Equipment, Design & Construction disciplines along with the
coordination of other affected parties such as Customer Service
Experience, Operations, Visual Merchandising, Market Area Research,
Corporate Staffing, and Corporate Graphics departments.
. Cross Functional Teams defining Planning, Design & Construction
Initiatives - I have a career long track record of being selected
to, and assembling, cross-functional teams to Define Initiatives
required to achieve corporate objectives, overall customer
experience strategy success, and, a consistent point of view for
the customer base. Collaboration Projects range from Global
Planning, Merchandise/Equipment Realignments, Planning & Design
Initiatives, Fixture/Equipment Package Development, New Facility
and Remodel Scope Development to Corporate Rollouts and Software
projects. All "new from the ground up" Concepts and Formats were
Prototyped and Tested where practical, and, required specific
"Retrofit" Components or Solutions to implement across existing
Store Formats.
. Supervise Staff and Manage Planning, Design & Construction
Initiatives through Leadership - Using a process of Standardized
and/or Specialized Schedules, Milestone Review Meetings, Regular
Staff Meetings and Spreadsheet/Database tracking systems, I have
achieved great success in project management and monitoring
Planning, Design & Construction staff and teams to fully adhere to
and incorporate Quality Assurance and Brand Identity Framework
requirements. Milestone tracking ensures that Staff and Team are
meeting internal and external turnover dates. Logical Milestone
Review Meetings are the opportune time to finalize decisions and
monitor results delivery.
. Maintaining Overall Brand Integrity Framework across Disciplines
through Guidelines, Standards, and Criteria - I have
consistently championed the use of Guidelines, Standards, Criteria
and Checklists to ensure success by each individual, discipline,
and team. Graphical Presentations in combination with Notes and
Written Specifications for all Typical Planning, Design and
Construction Components were the basis for Best Practice
Guidelines. Maintaining and distributing these packages to the all
team members on a regular basis promoted consistency and
integrity within each discipline. Up to date guidelines also
promoted the ability for all disciplines and team members to
understand each other's current standards, assuring a high level of
Quality Assurance and Results Delivery throughout the lifecycle of
new/redo Facility Environments.
. Propose, Develop and Implement New Organizational Structures and
Procedures - I have the ability to perform needs assessment,
develop, test and implement new streamlined structures, procedures
and processes on an individual, discipline, team and enterprise
wide basis. Examples include: Workload Staffing and Team
Assembly, Standardized Guidelines, Criteria Packages, Workload
Tracking Systems, Workflow Databases to track Rollout Projects,
Productivity Analysis System, Master Database - Vital Project Data,
Reinvent of Change Management System, Corporate Tracking Systems.

. Communicate Directives and Changes within Department and Teams -
With support and collaboration by all Department Heads and Staff,
developed and maintained a Corporate Criteria Change System to
document, estimate & analyze costs, gain approval for all Planning,
Design and Construction
related changes to Format Standards. Approval Status and
Implementation Directives were then
developed for staff use to incorporate revisions on projects in
process and on projects going forward.
. Communicate Accurate Periodic Reports to Executive Management -
Through the use of standardized schedules, checklists and regular
meetings, Periodic reports to Executive Management became a simple
and routine process to compile and distribute. Regular periodic
reports kept Executive Management informed regarding ongoing
Department Status Issues, as well as, proactively kept Executive
Management informed as to major issues and their impact affecting
Project/Program Development & Implementation. Impact Studies,
Solutions and Cost Proposals would then be monitored on future
reports.
. Comprehensive Knowledge of Architectural Project Development and
Implementation- 15+ years experience in wide ranging areas of
responsibilities from personally preparing and coordinating
research, reports, plans and specifications to managing and
coaching others to do the same - within a Corporate Division,
within a Contractor's Office, within a Architectural Design Firm,
and within a Large Corporate Design and Construction Office.
Includes preparing documents in-house, and, by utilizing Consulting
Firms.
. Comprehensive Financial Analysis in conjunction with Department
Counterparts - I have participated with my staff and counterparts
in developing comprehensive Cost Estimates, and ultimately, Cost
Histories for all Planning and Design Elements. Cost History Data
and Unit Pricing based upon Actual Costs were critical to all
disciplines in the preparation of New Project Scopes, Initial Cost
Estimates and Comprehensive Cost Tracking throughout Project
Lifecycle. All disciplines and all team members were responsible
to participate in the Budgeting, Estimating and Cost History
Process.
. Excellent Computer Skills including Excel, Database Software and
AutoCAD - I am considered to have Superior Technology Development
Experience with the ability to translate complex Business
Requirements into Technical Requirements resulting in Comprehensive
and Intuitive Business Systems. I have excellent computer skills
including Excel, AutoCAD, PowerPoint, Adobe, Cost Control and
Database Programs.
