Wavecom, one of the market leaders in wireless solutions for M2M (machine-
to-machine) communication, was acquired by Sierra Wireless and the site in
RTP was closed.
Director of Software Engineering 2008-2009
Led the software department consisting of 19 software engineers.
Responsible for the software budget and resource allocation between four
ongoing software projects. Hired and assigned engineers according to
project needs, and coordinated software tools, processes and procedures
with other Wavecom sites. Supported customers integrating the Wavecom
products. Managed software development through the full life-cycle.
Coordinated with local and global, internal and external teams, such as
Hardware, Quality Assurance (QA), Product Management, Program Management,
Sales, Senior Management, and component vendors.
. Directed four software projects in parallel by overseeing and assisting
the Project Managers to ensure that the projects proceeded according to
schedule and budget while delivering the highest software quality. The
agile software method Scrum was successfully used in several projects.
. Led two expert group initiatives: OMA/DM (Open Mobile Alliance/Device
Management) system design for new CDMA products using third party
software from Insignia (acquired by SmithMicro) and a system architecture
investigation into connecting two different chipset platforms used in
Wavecom's products. The expert groups consisted of engineers from the SW
team, HW team, QA team, and Product- and Program Management.
. Provided application software support to customers in North and South
America integrating Wavecom products. Coordinated with Wavecom experts in
France and Hong-Kong as well as with a support team in India.
. Responsible for software integration and testing (QA) including
development of an automated regression test suite that runs TCL (Tool
Command Language) scripted test cases.
Technical Manager, Software Development 2006-2007
Coached a team of ten software engineers and conducted their performance
appraisals. Participated in hiring, reorganizations, and resource planning.
In addition to line management, also served as Software Project Manager on
several wireless GSM, CDMA and satellite based (ORBCOMM) new product
development projects. Managed the software on a GSM modem project, from
defining software requirements, platform vendor selection and high level
design, through four maintenance releases. The team grew to as much as
twelve software engineers during the development, validation, and
certification phases.

Responsible for the GSM based wireless modems in the M2M (machine-to-
machine) software department. Initially developed software and managed the
software configuration environment, but as the GSM based product
development expanded, focused on the Software Project Manager role.
Led software projects from requirements gathering and software design
through software development and certification. Interacted directly with
customers as well as platform vendors. Traveled to Japan and Europe for
coordination meetings.
Promoted to Software Technical Manager in 2005 with the added
responsibility of line management for a team of seven software engineers.

Ericsson is one of the leading providers of telecommunication equipment and
services to cellular operators.
Software Development Engineer, Software Systems Engineer and Software
Systems Manager
Relocated from Ericsson's Swedish office to the US to work on the first
American digital cellular phone project utilizing the TDMA technology.
Developed software for protocol layer two and layer three.
Continued to work on cellular phone projects, including a phone for the
Japanese market using the PDC cellular standard. This involved several
trips to Tokyo and coordination with the Ericsson software team in Japan.
Responsible for layer two and layer three software development.
Worked on the User Interface (GUI) for several cellular phone projects,
including design using UML.
Joined the software Systems design team as a Systems Engineer to work on an
early prototype for today's smart-phones. The phone was based on Symbian
OS. Promoted to manager for the team in year 2000.

Service Technician and Computer Programmer
Worked as a service technician at the hospital in V ster s, Sweden, between
semesters when attending the Computer Technology program at the University
of Link ping.
Main duties were minor repairs of EKG machines and other medical equipment,
trouble shooting the Computer Tomography and the Radiation equipments, and
during the last semester I wrote a software program that analyzes data
taken from patients with Sleep Apnea problems.
