U.S. Citizen
Objective
To work as a Manufacturing Engineer, improving production through Lean
principles, data-driven decision making, and design of assembly aids.
Skills Overview
Mechanical
Experienced in creating engineering solutions to shop-floor problems.
Skilled with numerous CAD packages and fabrication methods, allowing for
rapid design and prototyping of new ideas.
Industrial
Trained in Lean Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints. Used both concepts to
optimize and control a bottleneck that arose while building up inventory
for the move to Mexico.
Work Experience
Manufacturing Engineer. May 2008 to Present
Trane Commercial Systems. Springhill, La.
. Project Manager in charge of moving the Air Handler and Sheet Metal
production lines (over 40% of the plant) to Monterrey, Mexico.
. Led two workcells through a major New Product Introduction.
. Implemented Kanban system to consolidate brazing to one shift.
. Modeled 16 braze fixtures for over 150 new copper assemblies.
. Retrofit three robotic brazers, including fixtures, programs, and user
interface design, enabling us to insource two part families worth $50,000
per year.
. In charge of specs and ordering $150,000 in manipulators, overhead
cranes, and articulated arm systems for the new line layout.
. Worked with vendors and off-site design team to improve
manufacturability, quality, and cost of copper and valve assemblies.
. Participated in design and manufacturing prototypes for the new product,
and led improvements to correct found issues.
. Handled daily engineering responsibilities for the brazing cells.
Engineering Co-op. May 2007 to May 2008
Trane Commercial Systems. Springhill, La.
. Conducted time studies and Lean-driven workcell flow improvements.
Exhibit Development Intern. Summer 2006
Sci-Port Discovery Center. Shreveport, La.
. Assisted in the layout and configuration of an $11,000,000 expansion
project, including a laser planetarium and Foucault pendulum.
. Designed and fabricated new exhibits in the Optical Illusion area.
Union Board President. Spring 2006 to Spring 2007
