City Of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh.
June 2000-Sep2003
Senior Systems Analyst
I was involved in developing Incident Management, it is a comprehensive web
based search software system designed for public safety department of city
of Pittsburgh as well as outside agencies. Incident Management consists of
multiple search modules and CRIMES data can be searched on
Offense/Person/Vehicle/Location/Firearm/Property etc. CRIMES Data entered
into the system is stored on an Oracle 9I based Data Warehouse. Performance
is a key factor when searching such huge volumes of data. The data
retrieval and data transferring techniques designed accomplished this.
Application was developed on Oracle 9i database using PL/SQL- Stored
Packages, Procedures, Functions, Database Triggers to populate the data
mart tables and Forms 6i tool for front end GUI interface using SSL
technology for security.
I was Responsible for entire life cycle development of the project
requirements gathering to deployment and developed PL/SQL- Packages,
Procedures, Functions, SQL Scripts, and Database Triggers.
Developed and maintained Oracle databases in a large warehouse environment.
Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems
mainly in SQL and PL/SQL and Developed complex Oracle Reports and Oracle
Forms with Graphic features, Implemented DBMS_JOB and scheduling those jobs
at night and electronic data load using SQL*LOADER scripts.
I also developed Stored Procedures to send e-mails to the users depending
upon failure or successful completion of jobs using UTL_SMTP package and
Developed Security Packages
utilizing DBMS_OBFUSCATION_TOOLKIT for data encryption.
Extensively used Designer 6i to generate Forms, Reports and Data Modeling.
Developed a Complaint tracking system to the City of Pittsburgh MSC is City
department, which handles complaints from city residents. Complaints
usually come in via telephone. These complaints cover a very broad
spectrum of items over 600 "categories" of problems. In the system these
are items are known as problem categories, which are further broken down
into problem types. The call taker speak to the person complaining, and
gather a variety of information about the complaint. This data is then
saved into the MSC database via the application program used by the call
takers. Once the data is saved, then complaint is then sent to the entity
via auto-populated E-mail to the concerned departments that is responsible
for resolving the complaint. Reports were generated such as percentage
reports, complaints completed, resolved etc., using oracle reports 6i.
The Warrants and Complaints module is designed to generate and track
criminal complaints initiated by a police officer and other legal
documents/reports related to those complaints. The warrant (or the summons)
instructs the defendant to appear before the magistrate at the Municipal
Court Building at a specified date and time, for a preliminary hearing on
the charges listed in the document. Application developed on Oracle8i
database using PL/SQL- Stored Packages, Procedures, Functions, ETI tool to
populated the data mart tables and Developer 2000, Forms 6i, Reports 6i,
for reports.
I was Responsible for gathering of business requirement and developing
specifications for an application. Developed PL/SQL- Packages, Procedures,
Functions, SQL Scripts. Wrote technical specifications for data extracts,
transformations, and loading data (ETL) to dimensional data warehouse
structures,
Wrote Oracle Stored Procedure to send mails within the application using
Oracle UTL_SMTP Packages. Developed SQL*Loader programs to load data from
flat files to Oracle. Developed about 30-40 complex Oracle Reports with
Graphic features for Web Deployment. Involved in Performance and tuning all
the Applications for the best performance. Developed Specifications, Test
Plans, test Cases and performed Unit, System and Integration testing.
I was involved in developing Section 8 Addresses is a comprehensive web
based search system designed for the dept of Housing Authority for section
8 Housing. In this search module an Officer try to locate an address for
section 8 to see any offenses (CRIMES) related to that address exists.
CRIMES Data entered into the system is stored on an Oracle 9I based Data
Warehouse. Application was developed on Oracle 9i database using PL/SQL-
Stored Packages, Procedures, Functions, Database Triggers to populate the
data mart tables and Forms 6i tool for front end GUI interface using SSL
technology for security.
I was responsible for gathering of business requirement and analyzing
existing systems,
Creation of a new database in Oracle and Generation of Reports for all the
addresses and related offenses. Work with Oracle utilities (UTL_FILE,
FTP) used to load the data from flat files to Oracle. FTP can be directly
done from the application.
As a Senior systems analyst developed PARS (Performance Analysis and Review
System) for
public safety department to closely track its police officers their
training, performance evaluations, use of force, work on special units and
more. Meanwhile, using the software, the chief of police and commanders
also gleaned insights into the causes of accidents, vehicle management, and
other gritty police issues. It became a management tool and a cost-saver.
Used Oracle designer/ERWIN to model, reverse engineer and design effective
business data model. Responsible for overall design, development and
administration of the database. Responsible for implementation of a
replication strategy using Advanced Oracle Replication. Extensive PL/SQL
and UNIX CRON shell programming was used to facilitate data transfer.
Established guidelines on merging data from various data sources into one
central repository.
Programmer
THK Consulting, Inc
1998 - 1999
As a Programmer developed Inventory Tracking System, Oracle Apps was
implemented to enhance proper planning and scheduling in their various
manufacturing units. The main modules are Inventory control and Production
Planning. Comprehensive modules were developed to keep track of sales and
inventory and this system automatically generates ordering of items based
on optimized analysis of re-order level and re-order quantity. This system
also handles pricing policy, discounts, pending orders and reduced
inventory before tax time. A financial module was also developed for
handling the billing functions of the Material Management System.
