Related Home Health Pavilion, New York. Title:
Systems Engineer intern June2009- August 2009
Experience: Duties and Responsibilities:
. Improved efficiency and enhanced security of the main
accounting database software - Teamdme Xl - with specific
specific enhancements to real time functioning and
nightly backups.
. Monitored interfaces of Cisco pix firewall and main Adtran
router - for traffic load and error logs.
. Managed a team of 3 in maintaining the network for virus and
intrusion by live monitoring of network packets.
Course - Operating Systems and Design
- Communication
Networks 2 (TCP/IP protocols)
Highlights: - Software Engineering (Web applications)
- Communication Networks 1 (Queuing theory)
- Advance Topics in Computer
Engineering - Stochastic Signals and
Systems
- Data Structures and Algorithms
- Digital Communication.
Projects: Development of Scheduling algorithm in Linux
Kernel: March 2010 - May 2010
. Developed a lottery algorithm using VMware to assign tasks at
the CPU. The algorithm was designed in C and functioned by
assigning each task a priority number and setting its
probability accordingly. A number would then be randomly
chosen and the task associated with that number would then be
executed.
. Achieved high efficiency for priority tasks. Gradually
increased the priority for other tasks to prevent starvation.
Implementation of File system in UNIX:
February 2010 - April
2010
. Developed a File System using the UNIX paradigm. Implemented
system calls to manipulate the data contained in the file and
allocate sufficient blocks of memory to a file at runtime.
Implemented Data structures using STL to hold the addresses
of the file. Also defined Hash functions to optimize the
search for a file.
Developed Sorting application using
multithreaded environment and multi-core processors: February 2010
. Designed a sorting application using Pthreads library in C++.
Tested the application to run on multiple threads for
time efficiency. Also analyzed the application by
applying different sort algorithms.
. Linked threads affinity to multiple cores to boost the
performance of the application with respect to time. This
resulted in a gain of 33.76% of time efficiency
when linked with multiple cores.
Sniffer module design:
September 2009- November 2009
. Developed a sniffer module using Java and the Tossim
simulator in Tinyos . The sniffer operated on the Bluetooth
network, sniffing communication packets and
acquiring the data related to channel parameters.
. This acquisition provides the parameters to select optimum
channel for secondary communication in Zigbee.
Project on stock prediction using web
services: February 2009-April 2009
. Developed a stock prediction module in C++ using curve
fitting techniques. The module was implemented by
acquiring stock data of over 50 companies and
observing the current market trends.
. The acquired data was retrieved from a Database using PHP and
processed by the stock prediction module. Achieved an
accuracy of 86% when compared with the actual stock prices of
the companies listed in the market
