Mechanical Engineering Analyst January 2007 to Present
Parsons Corporation, Pasco WA - Engineering analysis position allowing
exposure to structural analysis and design of several types of engineering
systems using many different types of engineering analysis approaches.
. Analyzed First-of-a-Kind chemical demilitarization machinery and
structures for stress and design criteria acceptability using both
classical equations and FEA programs for several multi-million dollar
projects
. Analyzed over 15 ASME Section VIII Division 1&2 Pressure Vessels for
stress using Compress PV Analysis program and ANSYS FEA program for a
multi-million dollar nuclear waste treatment project
. Worked collaboratively with designers and project engineers to
improve designs by both reducing cost and improving fabricability
. Quickly learned and applied advanced engineering programs such as the
CAESAR II piping analysis program which was used to validate intricate
piping designs and SAP2000 structural analysis program used to analyze
and validate a complex multi-million dollar mezzanine design
. Improved efficiency by creating an Engineering Analysis Reference
Index to assist members of the analysis team in accessing commonly used
formulas which reduced time to perform calculations, this index also
reduced the time required for new employees to become familiar with
company practice
. Estimated timeframes for completion of design in order to meet
deadlines which gave accurate budgets for project managers
. Supported shop activities by quickly reworking portions of the design
to accommodate fabrication resource availability to reduce cost and
schedule impact
. Worked with designers to leverage SolidWorks modeling, and used
SolidWorks to simplify designs in preparation for FEA
AutoCAD Drafter 2004 to 2006 (summers)
All American Products Co, San Fernando CA - Design position held during the
summers between years attending college. Performed three dimensional
renderings of machinery products.
. Utilized AutoCAD to produce drawings of industrial drilling
components.
. Created graphics for company catalog by duplicating drawings in to
Microsoft Publisher.
