PROVEN PROJECT LEADERSHIP
Critical Path Solutions
Collective interdepartmental input turns my exemplary information
architecture documents & project plans into a compass for the individual
contributors & project as a whole, reducing waste, mitigating risks, &
ensuring proper execution. I facilitate effective communication, planning,
& management which unifies departments & aligns them to the business
targets. With an eye toward the bigger picture, I drive projects to
fruition & iterate them forward with powerful mastery.
IA
Information Architecture
My solid IA documents like site or application architecture, product
requirements (PRD), wireframes, & functional specifications begin with
great strategic & tactical planning, phase 0, executive summaries, business
plans & projection models. I'm accustomed to working with all levels of
business to document information & requirements.
PM
Product Management
Managing features requires more than understanding technical capabilities &
launch sets. My understanding of user experience, business management, &
skills in creative UI design & technical implementation allow me to have
effective communication within & between these groups. This enables the
delivery of exceptional results.
PJM
Project Management
On-time & on-budget is a given. I've implemented Agile / Scrum & served as
Scrum Master. I've implemented the PACE Process & served as core team
leader. I've also managed projects using the Waterfall methodology. As a
motivational team leader, I've worked with resources in-house, virtually,
contractors, vendors, & off-shore.
PMM
Product Marketing
Today, measurement of KPIs for user behavior, customer feedback, online
marketing, e-Commerce, & print campaigns is required. I have experience
with SEO, SEM, Social, Email, Direct Mail, Viral, CPC, PPC, & more, tied to
landing pages tracking traffic & conversions to calculate ROI. All of this
data informs the other three areas of IA, PM, & PJM.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Director of Product Development Excel Telecommunications, June 2007 - May
2010
Originally in charge of several B2B development projects including SaaS
Services & Excel Analytics, my role was expanded to support all lines of
business with web, e-Commerce, tradeshow, & marketing assets. This
included IA documentation, graphics, web coding, project management, &
online marketing supporting agent sales. Additionally, I provided support
to the Excel's executive team creating business plans, competitive
analysis, formatting annual reports, & establishing online data rooms.
Highlights Include:
. Following a history of mergers & acquisitions, brand management was non-
existent. I spearheaded a brand revision & re-launch that produced
digital, print, multi-media, flash, & video collateral, network maps
(both static & interactive), & booth designs, supporting all major
lines of business both online, offline, & at tradeshows.
. I amalgamated a hodge-podge of web portals with my stellar product
development process (PDP) & information architecture (IA) documentation
resulting in a network of effective properties supporting growth in
millions from channel sales. Examples include: Excel.com, VarTech.com,
Excel.com/Epygi (partner) 1010818.com (agent), Chicago-Excel.com (geo),
Excel Mobility (product).
. From a neglected state of affairs, I implemented Agile / Scrum project
methodology with Excel's web & agent portals & served as Scrum Master.
Turnaround was instantaneous, and iterative development continued with
regular on-time, on-budget deliveries.
VP of Project Management HighWired Technologies, March 2006 - May 2007
I took the HighWired audio mixing tool from a prototype with only IE
support & no web services to a flexible cross-platform application with
embedding, API, & telecom support. I did this with a combination of IA
documents, Agile / Scrum development, proprietary software, & integrated
vendor technology. I managed distributor integrations with SOWs, &
provided post-launch marketing support.
Highlights Include:
. The initial prototype needed platform independence, improved user
experience, & API compatibility. My IA documents included
architecture, wireframes, & API interaction models that blueprinted the
integration with everything from browsers to Lucent MIPs.
. From a non-existent project discipline, I implemented the Agile / Scrum
project methodology & served as the Scrum Master enabling an on-time &
on-budget product delivery in three months.
. Integrated & deployed across the US, Canada, & Europe with multiple
enterprise distributors including TELUS, Embarq, Lucent, Time Warner
Cable, IP Unity, UT Starcom, LogicaCMG, & Scaanoo.
. To match the brand new interface & improved functionality, I envisioned
& led the effort to create distributor branded collateral that included
high resolution images, flash & multimedia help, audio samples, &
satellite marketing websites.
. Won "Most Innovative Voice Service" award from the International Voice
Messaging Association.
VP of Product Management YackPack, June 2005 - March 2006
From BJ Fogg's Stanford research & prototype I authored IA documents
defining the product features & distributor integrations. I implemented
Agile / Scrum for development, oversaw a three person QA team, & retained
the outsourced QA vendor Beta Breakers for automated testing. I employed
the PACE Process with the executive team, a methodology which I show
organically #1 with Google.
Highlights Include:
. The prototype was heavy on design, but lacked technical sophistication.
While maintaining the simple user experience, I created application
architecture, wireframes, & functional specifications resulting in a
flexible & easily deployable application.
. I served as the liaison to our patent attorney, leveraging my
information architecture documents, functional requirements, and
technical product descriptions to help create YackPack's patent
application.
. Running Agile / Scrum with the development team & the PACE Process with
the executive team, we were able to deliver a completed application two
weeks early, & entered our deployment phase with distributors like AARP
& Red Hat Society.
. YackPack won the Fall 2005 DEMOgod Award & 2005 "Inny" Award from the
Tech Museum in San Jose.
VP of Product Management People Places Things, February 2003 - May 2005
I ran focus groups to define the features for our social software platform.
My IA documents outlined the features that combined the personal,
professional, & geographical elements of a person's life, filtered by our
proprietary privacy engine. I then drove the project management &
contributed to development with creative design, user experience, and
presentation layer code.
Highlights Include:
. From an ambiguous concept & focus group feedback I created an
impressive set of IA documentation complete with application
architecture, wireframes, component designs, privacy engine maps,
product requirements (PRD) & functional specifications.
. Implemented project management plans & daily standing meetings.
Contributed to the development effort with layout design with Photoshop
6, and integration into ASPX with .NET wire-up using Visual Studio
2003.
Product, Project, & Marketing Consultant Various Clients, November 2001
- March 2005
Throughout my career I've developed a following of senior and executive
business leaders who understand the value I bring to the table, and who
have called me in to ensure their projects are completed successfully.
This has given me the opportunity to work on a wide array of innovative &
technical projects in a number of industries, deepening my business,
creative, technical, & marketing skills.
Highlights Include:
. Authored marketing requirements (MRD), wireframes & functional
specifications, & project plan (Waterfall), for FileMaker.
. Blogger site graphic design, navigation coding, and implementation for
the Incantato Tours main and satellite blog sites.
. Leadership of portal integrations into 3rd party sites especially in
the banking & mortgage industry for Blue Surf Design.
. Delivered UI / presentation layer of Web & mobile applications for
Vello Corporation.
. Created numerous IA documents for Golden Communications including
application architecture & wireframes.
Product Manager Driving Media, December 2000 - March 2002
I was initially placed in charge of several web applications, coordination
with our outsourced design firm Organic, Inc., & API data vendors including
Autodata Solutions, Inc. I maintained IA & product requirements (PRD) for
my products, provided graphic design & web coding skills, & collaborated
with the PMO & business development teams regarding our overall portal,
CMS, & API feeds.
Highlights Include:
. Authored information architecture documents including Phase 0, user
flow, product requirements (PRD), site architecture, wireframes,
functional specifications, & nomenclature documents.
. Initially led the development coordination between internal engineering
& outsourced design firm, Organic, Inc. After firing Organic, I worked
with engineers leveraging my Photoshop & web coding skills to deliver a
functional site in three weeks.
. I identified product synergies that were market differentiating,
defined the business & product requirements, then coordinated with
business development to license & then managed integration of key 3rd
party components & data feeds.
Marketing & Project Manager Hotbiz, December 1999 - October 2000
I got involved as Hotbiz was transitioning from direct sales to channel
partner distribution model. I drove all distributor integrations,
training, post-sale support, & managed a team of support agents. I owned
the customer voice, & successfully affected product refinements & iterative
application re-designs based on customer needs. I also envisioned &
created a tier 1 & 2 knowledge base.
Highlights Include:
. Coordinated a development team accustomed to direct site deployments, &
executed application distribution installments with several channel
partner portals.
. Assisted pre-sales, & managed post-sales SOWs, client project meetings,
with status reporting to the executive team. As requirements shifted,
I managed change orders, implementation follow through, and managed
customer expectations.
. Project Management for distributor integrations with an engineering
team split between San Jose, CA & Mumbai, India.
