North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC
Total GPA: 3.12 (Spring 2010 Semester GPA: 3.67)
Semester Dean's List: Fall 2009, Spring 2010
Selected Coursework: Physical Chemistry; Principles of Electrical
Engineering I; Modern Physics; Foundations of Graphics (SolidWorks)
Computer Skills: Microsoft Excel, SuperPro, Aspen, Matlab, Maple,

Senior Design Project
Algae Growth: The overall purpose of this project was to design a
facility for a biodiesel from algae process using data obtained from a
bench scale reactor.
Process Design: Subsystems that were designed for the reactor included
lighting, circulation, nutrient dosing, and carbon dioxide feed. Gained
experience in pumps (especially air lift and geyser pumps), control
systems, and light transmittance. I also improved in troubleshooting
skills and group communication.
Facility Design: Researched and ran bench scale processes for separation,
lipid extraction, transesterification and purification.
Work Experience
Target Distribution Center, summer 2009 (40 hours per week) - Loaded
trailers and prepared freight for outbound. I gained some leadership
experience, as I often assigned co-workers to specific jobs in the
outbound process.
Lowe's Home Improvement, 2005-2007 (approx 30 hours per week) - Worked in
all parts of the store, especially in receiving and hardware. I was
rarely supervised and learned to perform my responsibilities
individually.
Activities and Involvement
Play With the Pack, 2010 (approx 1-2 hours per week) - Volunteering at
local Pre-Schools to teach children the importance of a well balanced
diet and staying active.
American Institute of Chemical Engineers, 2009-2010 - attended numerous
company presentations.
Volunteer Firefighter, 2003-2007 - Volunteered for Kings Creek Volunteer
Fire Department. I was credited for approximately 100 contact hours of
continuing education classes including fire fighting, fire prevention,
emergency rescue training, emergency medical treatment, and hazmat.
Mission Trips, 2003-2005 - Volunteered with World Changers in three cities
(Charleston, WV, Chatanooga, TN, and Aiken, SC). Re-roofed a
house designated by the city.
