technologies.
Experience and education provides a solid foundation for performance in
these key areas:
Trouble shooting
Problem solving
Machine design
CAD/FEA - AutoCAD, Algor
Computer programming - Microsoft tools/languages, LabVIEW
Web development - HTML, PHP, Java, Databases (SQL)
Technical Writing
Electrical & Electronic design/repair
Use and development of many Test and Measurement systems
Interface well with all levels of management and personnel
Varied experience can take technical projects from conception to
production. Proven ability to work well independently or in a team
environment.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
National Instruments (IOtech), Cleveland, OH
National Instruments transforms the way engineers and scientists around the
world design, prototype, and deploy systems for test, control, and embedded
design applications.
Application Engineer 2000 - 2010
Provided both pre-sale and post-sale support for both inside sales staff
and distributors. Pre-sale support included anything from product selection
to technical support for demonstrations. Most post-sale support was by
email and phone. Occasional on-site training and creation of training
materials was necessary for more sophisticated software packages or
customized training. Inside support included helping customers with sensor
wiring, signal conditioning, software package installation/configuration
and custom software development. Latest years have been more specialized
for support of vibration testing and monitoring equipment. Vibration
applications include multi-plane balancing, predictive maintenance, non-
destructive resonance testing, sound measurement and modal analysis.
Overton Corporation, Willoughby, OH
A small company that does consulting engineering and custom machine design.
Design Engineer 1999-2000
Designed material handling equipment for sterilizing food cans with
induction heat.
Gooch & Housego (Formerly Cleveland Crystals Inc.), Highland Hts., OH
A manufacturer of precision laser optic components and sub-systems.
Project Manager / Design Engineer 1998-1999
Responsible for fabrication and finishing of crystals used for laser
optics. Promoted for my unique idea of a machine that diamond fly cuts
small crystals used in main products. Responsibility grew further to
implement my idea through to production. Activities included all modeling,
design and construction of a machine that includes a hydrostatic slide, air
bearing, fluid systems, a composite machine base, linear servo motor,
stepper motors and all PC based controls for which I wrote all software.
This machine now reduces labor to a small fraction of the conventional
polishing method while improving product quality.
Mechanical Engineer 1991-1998
Previously had responsibility for all aspects related to fabrication of
large aperture crystals. These aspects included:
Meeting with customers to assess their requirements
Facility planning for future customer needs
Design of fixtures and machine modifications to reduce cost and/or increase
quality
Maintenance of all machines and measurement systems
Writing reports
Completing customer orders
EDUCATION
B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Ohio State University, Columbus, OH
Category II Vibration Analyst, Vibration Institute, Willowbrook, IL
