Experience

2004 – Present Kidde Fire Fighting West Chester, PA

Research Chemist

Responsible for research and development of new fire fighting foam concentrates that meets or

exceeds UL specifications.

Research and development liaison to Production/Manufacturing for resolution of issues.

Lead chemist on C6 reformulation efforts on Aqueous Film Formation Foams (AFFF).

At-large member of Executive EH&S committee.

Integral team member that obtained first in industry UL certification of Fire Fighting foam

concentrate for use on Biodiesel, opening up a new market.

Supervised and directed college interns in various projects for customer-based formations and

testing.

2001 – 2004 Sermatech International Limerick, PA

Staff Chemist

Led the research and development of all new chromium-free high temperature coatings to better

position the company for the future.

Supervised the bulk scale-up of new hexavalent chromium-free coatings during preproduction

phase of product roll-out.

Developed new pretreatment for mild and alloy steel to allow next generation chromium-free

coatings to be applied onto customer’s hardware. This pretreatment reduced processing and labor

costs by greater than 50%.

Lead chemist in UV-curable coatings for use on temperature sensitive substrates.

Designed new chromium-free silicate coating for use in automotive markets.

Developed high-temperature, ultra-smooth, corrosion resistant coatings for use on aerospace

turbines. This coating reduced drag on turbine blades, creating tremendous cost savings to the

customer.

Directed development, implementation, and training of technicians of new wastewater treatment

process that reduced processing time by 50% and reduced costs by >98%.

1997 – 2001 Sermatech International Limerick, PA

Chemical Technician

Developed novel corrosion-resistant, phosphate-based inorganic coatings under direction of the

Senior Research Chemist.

Assisted in the design and development of PFA/PTFE thick film coatings.

Trained other technicians on new application methods for chromium-free coatings.

Tested new coating formulations in ASTM-based salt spray, humidity, and cyclic corrosion

environments.
