Professional Experience
Putnam Investments Legal & Compliance IT Department Feb. 2006 -
Present
Architect/Senior Developer in the Legal & Compliance IT department at
Putnam Investments working on several financial web based projects and
messaging integration projects. Acted as lead on most projects and for a
period of time was the project manager for the IT group while waiting for a
full time resource to become available.
Integral in building Proof of Concept (POC) Rule Server processor engine
for Putnam. The POC intent was to replace the Sentinel application Rule
Server currently in production. The technologies used were Java, Coherence
Grid, JPA/Hibernate with Spring, and Drools.
Designed and built the integration layer into the PreTrade compliance
application called Sentinel. The integration piece consisted of building
TIBCO RV publishers and subscriber for listening and publishing XML content
within the Putnam organization. Also implemented some of this technology
using TIBCO Business Works SOA builder. Other integration technologies
consisted of sqlload of csv files and post processing into the application
main tables using stored procedures.
Built Business Works PreTrade application that would listen to TIBCO RV
synchronous messages from Putnam trading applications. The PreTrade would
then publish RV messages to the Sentinel RuleEngine and wait for the
asynchronous response from the RuleServer The results from the
asynchronous response would then be enriched and published back to the
trading application.
Architect/Senior Developer for FAMS (Fair Allocation Monitoring System)
which tracks orders and trades across many accounts and securities over a
long period of time. The application enabled the compliance users to
monitor the trading activity for any irregularities. The application would
trigger when certain rules where violated. It also monitored Long/Short
trades over a seven day period for irregularities.
Architect on the project which was a
JQuery/jqGrid/Struts/Spring/Hibernate/WS/Oracle technology stack.
Built a server-side batch processing application which pulled trading
information from the trading applications and blocked all of the executed
trades so rule checking could be executed more easily.
Built an application that would talk to a RESTful xml web service the
output was transformed via XSL then imported into database tables using
JAXB and Hibernate.
Integrated a Flex grid into the application for small prototype.
Architect and developer for ProxyVoting web application that allowed
Program Managers vote on upcoming corporate proxies for companies their
portfolios invested in. Application had a workflow email based web
functionality. This application was built on a
JSF/Spring/Hibernate/iPlanet technology stack.
Acted as a temporary Project Manager of the PreTrade compliance application
for about 14 months till a full-time employee could free up. During that
time I managed a group of four developers that were required to support and
enhance a tier-1 trading application with about 35 full-time users. The
application had many different technologies; Java, PLSQL, autosys, TIBCO-
RV, and cshell/bash.
Senior Developer working on Putnam Profiles a reference database
application used by other organizations within Putnam to monitor hardware
used by Putnam employees. Helped design the original architecture of the
application to get the project off the ground. Technology stack:
JSF/Spring/Hibernate/Oracle/iPlanet.
Senior Developer working on NASDTracker a web based internal auditing
program that kept track of Putnam's licensed NASD/FINRA employees for
series 6 &7 certifications. Application interfaced to NASD website for
certification information via REST web services. The application was
build using (MDA) Model Driven Architecture technologies. This enabled
rapid development of the application via MDA code generation with MagicDraw
as the UML modeling tools and AndroMda Maven plugin as the code generator.
The GUI used SiteMesh/Struts/Appfuse classes along with Spring/Hibernate..
Anthem Healthcare Feb. 2005 - Feb 2006
Responsible for enhancing and maintaining an existing web application
running in WebSphere application server. Enhancements included introducing
new technologies such as Spring and Hibernate. Also created a activity
tracking component that would track the activity of the users enabling
development to determine which parts of the application brought the
greatest value to the end users and which did not.
eDocs Jan 2004 - Feb 2005
eDocs was a web solution provider to the telecommunication and health care
industry. I was contracted as a hands on architect to deliver solutions to
their customers. During my time there I worked for two clients delivering
web based solutions to their customer base.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Northeast Pennsylvania 10 months
Solutions Architect building a client facing Member Service Web Portal to
enable users to view health claims, referrals, benefits and to change
Providers as well as order new id cards. Web application build on JEE
technologies housed within WebLogic container. Interfaced with backend
Mainframe CICS application via MQSeries and .NET Web Service components.
I was the lead architect on this job working with two other developers and
one business analyst. Technology stack:
JSP/SiteMesh/Spring/Hibernate/MQSeries/Siteminder/Oracle/WebLogic.
Architect on the project who worked with client to determine the best
integration solution.
Responsible for the gathering requirements and building the design document
for the client to sign off on.
Responsible for the delivery of the product to the client in a timely
manner.
Acted as a hands on developer building a lot of the web and server side
components of the application
Avaya 3 months
Lead developer building an account receivable sub-system that took in daily
feeds into the on-line Payment Portal. Technologies used:
Springframework, Stored Procedures, and eDocs application framework.
WellPoint Healthcare Jan 2000 - Dec. 2003
Project lead on a team of six developer building a workflow application.
The application consisted of three separate application. One an Oracle
Reports application that produced PDF Reports. Second application took the
reports and post-processed the PDF's and inserted them as BLOBS into an
Oracle database. The third was a Web application allowing health care
users to view their PDF reports after going through two levels of quality
checks by internal business users. These applications interacted in a
workflow manner that required all three applications to communicate with
one another. My major role was to get a WebSphere/J2EE project built and
delivered while training eight developer new to Java, WebSphere and OOAD
technologies.
Trained the new team on Java, J2EE, and Object Oriented programing before
the project began including developing classes.
Conducted Java, J2EE and OO training classes for developers new to these
technologies
Built the application using standard JSP/Struts/Dao/JDBC/Oracle
technologies.
Utilized an Agile iterative development with daily unit tests that would
enable the project to be delivered incrementally to the end users.
Developed a Java application that would suck in 500 plus documents into an
Oracle database for viewing by the Report Portal
Integrated into SiteMinder authentication and authorization solution.
