Managed a team of packaging engineers commissioned to increase a Rockford,
Illinois contract-packaging (P&G - Anderson Packaging) company's
productivity at a minimum cost. The project encompassed measuring,
assessing, and refining all machinery operating parameters, reconfiguring
product flow paths, designing a new maintenance protocol, and measuring and
validating the production increase. The resulting 20% increase, costing
less than $100,000, exceeded expectations.

Developed, wrote, and published comprehensive instruction manuals for the
setup, operation, teardown, safe cleaning and maintenance of a series of
evacuators of surgical LASER generated smoke. Researched (NIOSH, NIH) the
composition of LASER vaporized tissue smoke and its impact upon the
surgical team and patient, discovering recent, unpublished, findings
indicating that live virus DNA was present in the smoke and that a
sterilizing/anti-viral/bacterial mechanism was needed to treat the
evacuator exhaust airstream. Recommended that a sterilizing mechanism be
installed in the smoke-evacuator. Collaborated with medical personnel to
ensure that the procedures recommended for the safe and effective cleaning
and decontamination, and subsequent killing of live virus DNA, prevented
contamination of the maintenance technician.
