Engineering Experience

Wiregrass Ranch, King Engineering

Developed, in conjunction with a three person team, the Stormwater ICPR

model, associated calculations, pipe design, pond design, and authored and

assembled the permits required for the 5,000 acre Wiregrass development DRI

in Pasco County. The DRI required a pre-development model to be approved

through SWFWMD, and also an ERP application for each development within

Wiregrass. The design required integration of three housing communities

with a golf course, town center, high school, shopping center, hospital,

and extension of State Route 56.

Analyzed aerials, site topography, survey data, and site reconnaissance to

create a detailed existing ICPR model of the area, and then determined that

the effects of runoff, floodplain encroachment, stormwater detention and

retention, and proposed bridges and highways would not create an adverse

impact on the natural water routes in the project site. Integrated the

results from ICPR with information from GIS and AutoCAD in order to provide

quantities and exhibits for the floodplain, pervious and impervious areas,

and water inflows and outflows for inclusion in the SWFWMD ERP for this

project.

River Club, Atwell-Hicks

Generated the Stormwater ICPR model, associated calculations, pipe design,

pond design, and ERP application and report for the 200 acre three-phase

River Club development in Sarasota County, which has been successfully

permitted through SWFWMD. This development required a synthesis of single-

family homes, townhouses, commercial property, roadways, and a complex pond

drainage system. Completed a conceptual overall development ERP and then

three separate ERP's for each of three phases, all of which were approved

by SWFWMD. Succeeded in executing the ERP's for this project on an

extremely short timetable set by my company, and our team achieved project

completion within the projected schedule and budget of this project.

C-111 Spreader Canal, WRSCompass

Reviewed plans, specifications, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling in ICPR

and HEC-RAS, and earthwork quantity computations for this Everglades

restoration project. Compiled data from a 7 person team and integrated

into a project summary Excel sheet that was updated and distributed for

weekly meetings and contained all pertinent design information for the

project in an easily accessible graphical and tabular format. Project

included construction of over 20 miles of levees, two pump stations, 23

weirs, a 3 mile long water mounding channel, and three retention ponds with

areas ranging from 150-180 acres as part of an Aceler8/CERP project for

SFWMD. Authored and reviewed much of the final design report. Coordinated

extensively with estimating department for takeoffs and quantities for this

project to create an OPCC for the client and to create a separate bid

proposal from our company for construction.

Mosaic FSA Loadout, WRSCompass

Designed, drafted and supervised construction of a Fluosilicic Acid (FSA)

loading area containment system, consisting of a concrete truck pad, rail

pan, and receiving sump with industrial pump, to comply with existing and

future RCRA regulations. FSA is highly corrosive to silica and metals, and

therefore the system design had to creatively incorporate multiple material

and coating technologies in addition to the civil design challenges of

routing spillage and stormwater in a highly active industrial environment.

Researched, calculated and designed system volume requirements, concrete

depth and reinforcement, outlet pump and piping, subgrade for truck and

rail areas, sump size and material, and pipe and coating materials.

Coordinated vendor bid submittals. Estimated project construction cost and

schedule; participated in weekly client meetings. Drafted AutoCAD 16

sheets of design plans in AutoCAD, which required integration of

topographic survey, geotechnical analysis, proposed site modifications,

rail plan and profile, truck containment plan and profile, drainage piping

plan and profile, overhead pressure piping plan and profile, details for

concrete, rail pan, subgrade, pump, piping and instrumentation, and as-

built mark-ups for final plan submittal. Provided engineering consultation

during project construction.

North District Orlando Sentinel (NDOS) Site, WRSCompass

Managed construction for the demolition and relocation of a "pump and

treat" groundwater treatment system to make room for expansion of I-4 in

downtown Orlando, which required street and sidewalk demolition, well

drilling, horizontal directional drilling, installation of concrete vaults,

and connection of HDPE piping to an existing pressure system. Compiled a

schedule of required project equipment and materials from the construction

plans, and used this schedule to communicate material specifications to

vendors, collect bids, purchase required components based on a value

analysis for each bid, and coordinate equipment and materials delivery to

the project site. Supervised site work and served as primary contact for

communication with utility companies, FDOT, city employees, CSX,

neighboring businesses, and the design engineer. Implemented maintenance of

traffic protocols based on the engineering plans.

HCA Florida Fuel Storage Tanks, WRSCompass

Drafted the complete sets of plans for UST removal and AST installations at

five Florida hospitals run by the Hospital Corporation of America in

AutoCAD. Assisted in component design and configuration. Investigated

alternative tank installation technologies and obtained vendor quotes and

bids for construction.

Belle Glade/Torry Island Lock, WRSCompass

Oversaw the ERP and Dredging Permit submittal for a lock system to be

constructed in Belle Glade, FL. Authored application and report. Reviewed

and compiled drainage and treatment calculations, environmental reports,

construction plans, property deeds, specifications, topographic survey, and

GIS data for this project.

Additional Experience

. Presented a site-specific safety training course in order to provide

certification for two separate work crews to work at the Mosaic

industrial phosphate production plant.

. Simplified the computation of hydrologic information such as SCS curve

number, time of concentration and hydraulic information such as

detention pond design, weir design and pipe design by creating

interactive Excel sheets utilizing Visual Basic and embedded drop-down

menus.

. Initiated document, calculation and file standards development for

team at all places of employment. Wrote and organized ISO 9000

documents as part of a college internship.
