CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

> Served as Level 1 support at Southwestern Bell Telephone for

internally-developed client-server middleware (DataGate). Provided

7x24 support on a rotational basis. Worked with dozens of DataGate

users to answer questions and resolve problems, entering every call

into the corporate tracking system and updating records as

necessary. Maintained 20-30 C/C++ DataGate services running on

AIX, HP-UX, and Solaris UNIX hardware. Wrote and maintained 50 UNIX

scripts developed to support DataGate. Served as Software

Configuration Manager to schedule all software changes via the

standard company change control process. Developed and

successfully tested disaster recovery plan for DataGate, providing

supporting documentation. Installed and configured DataGate

Infrastructure and Client Services at Pacific Bell Telephone after

the merger with Southwestern Bell Telephone.

> Performed application programming for start-up wireless company in

Zurich, Switzerland. Utilized data from a wireless telephone

billing system to create reports using GEM language for all areas

within the company (Engineering, Information Systems, Marketing,

Billing, Payroll, Directory Services). Analyzed available data and

produced many types of reports: daily activations, weekly sales,

monthly billing, and special ad hoc requests. Hired additional

programmers as the company grew and the workload increased. Served

as Lead Developer for the team.

> Served as IT Single Point of Contact for extensive IT audit by

external parties in order for SBC to obtain permission from the

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to offer Long Distance.

Analyzed multiple technologies and available data to develop and

maintain hundreds of reports using PERL in order to provide regular

measurements required by the FCC (for example, time for multiple

transactions, unscheduled downtimes for critical systems, number of

orders successfully completed, and time of duration to complete a

successful order.)

> Wrote and maintained dozens of user exits in Assembler Language for

third-party software: IMF (IMS Management Facility - Boole &

Babbage), CA-7 (Scheduling Software - Computer Associates), CA-11

(Restart Software - Computer Associates), CA-1 (Tape Management

Software - Computer Associates). User exits tailored software to

function as needed for company standards.

> Created training course for OS/JCL. Taught at Washington

University as a semester course, weekend workshop, and two-day

class for students of all skill levels. Provided this training

more than 25 times, keeping the material updated and current.

> Fulfilled role of Technical Owner for Java Message Service (JMS) at

AT&T, which involved establishing a standard for J2EE development

and enforcing that standard corporate-wide. Led a team of highly-

skilled Java developers to choose a JMS Provider to be used as the

Enterprise Message Bus, develop an Infrastructure Framework to be

used by other development teams, and add clients in a structured

manner so the quality of this shared environment was not

compromised. Coordinated the purchase of hardware for the

Enterprise Message Bus, architecting for failover (should one of

multiple machines fail). Coordinated with Data Center personnel

when any hardware or operating system changes need to be made. Set

up a procedure to notify client base of any changes that might

impact them.

> Supported IMS at Southwestern Bell Telephone for all five regional

data centers. Installed and maintained IMS Management Facility

(IMF) and used as a support tool. Performed on-site Performance

Reviews at least once a year for the IMS Control Regions in each

Data Center. Developed and presented IMF training to personnel in

each Data Center after each new software release.

SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE:

Languages: COBOL, Assembler, GEM, C, C++, Perl, SQL, REXX, OS/JCL, VB

Products: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Access, Word,

PowerPoint, Visio, Project), CA-1, CA-7, CA-11, IMF
