Senior information technology leader with expertise in delivering business

value and providing a new perspective to technology organizations. As the

CIO of a $1 Billion company, with a $30 Million IT budget, I established

strategic direction, designed business-focused technology roadmaps,

established sound IT governance, and implemented cost reduction efforts in

a constantly changing environment. I have also designed and managed

Program Management Offices, and led projects ranging from $2M to $47M for

companies up to $13 Billion in revenue with $300 Million IT project

budgets.

Focused on strategic special projects for a geographically dispersed 1400+

person IT department.

Program and Project Management

. Led the establishment of a consolidated Project Management Office,

integrating over 100 IT Application and Infrastructure Project Managers

(employee and contract) from various business units. Managed and

organized business-focused and infrastructure project work with an annual

spend of $300 Million. For the first time, PG&E gained visibility into

the health of its portfolio of IT project work across the organization.

IT Organizational Alignment

. Led a cross functional team to successfully complete an organizational re-

alignment of over 1400 employees and 200 contractors. Facilitated

socialization workshops to define new roles and responsibilities across

the re-aligned management team, and identified over 150 project

management professionals dispersed throughout the organization.

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and IT Governance

. Initiated a $47 Million IT Program, comprised of 6 - 7 major projects

spanning 3-4 years. Developed partnerships with IT departments and

multiple vendors to raise awareness of ITIL concepts, brought ITIL

training to over 100 IT employees, and led the implementation of tools

supporting the first phase of re-designed ITIL and IT Governance

processes.

Crowley Maritime Corporation 1993 -

2005

Chief Information Officer for 5 years, responsible for enterprise-wide

Information Technology for a $1 Billion international transportation

company with major operating units in North America and Latin America.

Strategic Planning

. Crafted an eCommerce strategy, forged a strategic partnership with a

leading eCommerce provider, and implemented appropriate technologies to

improve the customer value proposition and reduce costs.

. Developed and initiated several phases of a multi-year IT strategy to

retire high cost legacy applications and replace with lower cost, more

agile packaged applications to reduce IT costs and improve business

processes. The corporate strategy provided 'best of breed' applications

to operating units coupled with a solid back end integration engine tied

to the enterprise systems of record.

De-mystifying IT Costs and Activities

. Re-sized the IT function for cost efficiencies following a divestiture

that reduced corporate revenue by 50%. Adjusted staffing through re-

tooling, re-skilling and selected staffing changes to reduce headcount by

20% without sacrificing services levels.

. Led the IT integration of four small to mid-sized acquisitions to help

bring the company revenue back over $1 Billion without disruptions in

service or increasing the IT budget.

. Instituted Business Relationship Management and IT Governance processes

to embed IT representatives into the business units, and to improve

responsiveness and communications at all levels of the organization.

. Developed an IT asset management strategy to improve flexibility during

merger and divestiture activities, improve cash flow forecasts, and take

advantage of low lease rates. This reduced staffing costs, standardized

hardware to allow for consolidations, and reduced software costs through

volume buying, resulting in a savings of over 20%.

. Implemented selective outsourcing options, including a major mainframe

outsourcing initiative, to reduce costs and improve service.

. Spearheaded various telecommunications initiatives to reduce spend by

over 40%.

Leading, Motivating and Inspiring Teams

. Implemented an enterprise resource management (ERM) system to replace

homegrown legacy applications at both domestic and international

locations. By outsourcing portions of the implementation, the project

was delivered within the six month timeline, below budget and in line

with business expectations.

. Implemented an enterprise IT architecture to create an agile, flexible IT

organization able to deliver a high degree of efficiency, reliability and

scalability to support merger, acquisition and growth initiatives.

. Established an IT Program Management Office to ensure repeatable,

successful project implementations. This team also mentored business

unit project teams on best practices.

Also served as Director for Technology Infrastructure and Director for

Application Development

. Led the teams responsible for a major network re-design and

implementation of Email company-wide; and a data center move from San

Francisco, California to Jacksonville, Florida.

. Collaborated with the Board of Trustees to successfully lead the IT

portion of the company wide Y2K initiative.

. Managed a six-month project to provide service bureau data processing to

the acquiring company following a business line divestiture, turning IT

into a $1 million profit center.

. Led a cross-functional IT team to develop the company's first System Life

Cycle and Post Project Review process.
