UBS Wealth Management (1994 - June 2010)
IT Project Manager (Director) - Municipal Trading
* Program manager for the migration of the Municipal Trading business and
IT infrastructure from the UBS Investment Bank to UBS Wealth
Management. The business consists of over 100 professionals and
performs over 7500 trades per day. Created work streams and chaired
stakeholder meetings across the firm's business lines. Project was
completed on time and under budget. Team leads included: IT staff,
Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Traders, Accounting and Finance.
* Managed the server migration for the Municipal Trading application to
UBS's new data center. The migration included upgrades to the
operating system, database levels and disaster recovery. As a result 30
servers were migrated and increased the trading platforms disaster
recoverability capabilities by reducing failover time and eliminating
points of failure.
* Established strategic plans and partnerships for system implementations
affecting UBS trading applications, consistent with defined objectives
and strategic direction for both the client and the applications
development department. Continued to ensure on-going supportability and
scalability of systems by recommending and implementing upgrades.
* Managed Off-Shore partners and vendor relationships that supply
technology products and services (including but not limited to: WIPRO,
Bloomberg, Sungard, iPreo and Bonddesk).
* Directed daily operations of the Municipal Trading, Risk Reporting and
Portfolio Performance applications. These applications support the
Municipal Securities line of business. Functions include: Trade
Execution, Bid Processing, Offer Processing, Entitlements, Monthly
Statement processing, Position and Balances, P&L, Risk Reporting and
Supervisory reporting.
* Managed $2.25 million budget to support the daily operations of the
Municipal Trading application, as well as, the development and
implementation two new Trading related projects which included
1) Development of a new Issuer and VaR Risk reporting system.
2) Integration of the Municipal trading application into BondDesks Order
Entry portal)
* Prepared Business Requirements documentation for all major projects
* Utilized Agile/Scrum methodologies for smaller dynamic projects.
IT Project Manager (Associate Director) - Order and Trade Processing
* Managed the development and implementation of a web based online
trading system to provide enhanced compliance review and ease of use by
collaborating with other project managers towards the project's
success. This system is utilized by 10,000 financial advisors and
provides a centralized location to place Equity, Option, Mutual Fund,
Fixed Income and Insurance orders.
* Project Manager for a User Tracking system for UBS's new broker
workstation. This project led to an in house developed solution that
saved the firm over $250,000 from the lowest based vendor bid.
* Directed a stakeholder team from various IT disciplines (Networking,
DBA, SA, Engineering and ISD) to redesign the distributed online
trading infrastructure to provide high availability and immediate
disaster recovery. Achieved an uptime of 100% for over a year.
* Program manager for the transition (from the UBS Investment Bank) of a
FIX based trading system utilized by outside institutional clients and
money managers. Tight coordination was required for the testing and
final cutover between UBS and the Trading platforms utilized by outside
money managers.
* Used SDLC Methodology to implement a development, QA and production
installation cycle plan that allowed for the stable release of monthly
enhancements to the order and trade processing systems. The full
project life cycle was later used for corporate-wide best practices.
IT Project Manager - Client and Account Information
* Managed the development of a comprehensive Client and Account database
application that provided enhanced client/account information for use
by virtually all UBS applications. Information includes but is not
limited to delivery instructions, client relationships and legal &
compliance information. This project required coordination with almost
all UBS application teams, legal, compliance and business analysts.
* Introduced and enforced policies and procedures to stabilize the firm's
legacy client reference database. Reduced batch processing delays by
99%.
* Managed the implementation of a change request analysis procedure that
provided project cost estimates and set client expectations. The new
process included chairing a weekly prioritization meeting with all
stakeholders.
Lead Programming Analyst - Client and Account Information
* Met with various end users to perform the analysis and functional
design needed to meet business requirements.
* Modeled business requirements using Entity Relationship Diagrams,
Process Dependency Diagrams, state Transition Diagrams and Data Models
using HPS CASE Tools.
* Prepared functional and technical specifications for various business

Programming Analyst - Client Information Systems
* Part of a team that developed a large DB2 database which stored client
information for Prudential Insurance and Financial Service and all
subsidiary business units.
* Programmed COBOL/DB2 modules used for the maintenance and population of
the client database.
* Performance tuning COBOL/DB2 applications using tools such as PLATINUM,
SPUFI, STROBE, OMEGAMON and DB2 Accounting Reports.

* Developed applications for use by the audit staff to help determine
risk and exposure within the many systems used for production by The
