IT Manager / Project Coordinator / Senior Program Manager January 2006-
December 2009
Responsible for UNIFI's Project Portfolio Management system and processes;
managed administration, training and education for the IT division in three
locations.
. Designed and managed the governance process for the corporate
executives to oversee delivery of 55+ technology-related corporate
merger initiatives to integrate Union Central, Ameritas, and Acacia.
Completed integration helped establish company confidence, achieve
desired ratings from S&P and A.M. Best and exceed sales projections.
. Led a strategic company initiative to facilitate common document
management for the merged companies. Implemented the corporate
image/workflow system at Union Central and established staffing and
business processes to handle all new and existing business documents.
Effort spanned 18 months, scanned 50 million images and required
750,000 internal and outsourced man-hours. Success recognized at
Association of Records Managers & Administrators (ARMA) Records
Management conference.
. Partnered with cross-functional team across newly merged companies
that selected the Serena Project Portfolio Management (Mariner)
platform. Efforts resulted in the effective prioritization of 1000
concurrent projects and utilization of 1 million hours of IT and
business resources annually. Recognized by supervisor as the key
reason for successful implementation. Invited to present
implementation approach at the 2008 Serena User Conference.
. Translated and incorporated new National Association of Insurance
Commissioners (NAIC) Model Audit Rule (MAR) compliance controls into
IT systems and processes. Prepared initial training in the
application of those controls while implementing technology-related
solutions. Interfaced frequently with legal, internal audit and
business process owners. Implemented MAR controls 6 months prior to
2010 effective date that allowed for early self-audits.
. Created a training coordination function to ensure 240 IT Staff
received required 52 hours of training per year. Created and delivered
instructor-led training classes both onsite and to remote associates
via WebEx / videoconferencing. Received "Outstanding" ratings for
training content, customization, organization and delivery skills.
. Assisted in testing and installation of corporate Talent Management
System for 2400+ associates.
. Led the due diligence evaluation of the Cisco Unified Communications
telephony platform. Completed software, vendor and cost benefit
analysis of telephony solution for 8 UNIFI locations requiring the
integration of 7 systems by 15 vendors. Based on comprehensive
analysis, project was approved and funded.

Responsible for Project Management for enterprise-wide technical
initiatives, business and systems integrations, as well as business
acquisitions and divestitures.
. Managed the integration of the HR Policies, Processes, and Procedures
for the 2400+ associates in the combined UNIFI Companies.
. Led the corporate document imaging and workflow initiative which
included conducting business process analysis and workflow definition
for multiple lines of business. Led team that selected software for
the corporate imaging solution.
. Directed the divestiture of Union Central's Group Life and Disability
block of business by managing the IT, Business, and Financial
components of divesting the sold block of business. Efforts included
the closure of two business offices and addressed pending related
litigation.
. Partnered the initiative to change Third Party Administrators (TPA)
for a block of business which resulted in multi-million dollar profit.
Selected highly qualified TPA in a new office with new staff and a
custom application re-write to support the block of business, while
managing the orderly transition from previous TPA.
. Identified and communicated cost overrun situation on a systems
consolidation project critical to the successful integration of a key
business acquisition. Project involved 25 developers and spanned 12
technical environments.
