WORK EXPERIENCE

Supply Chain Engineer, The Home Depot, domiciled in McCalla, AL

09/2009 - present

o Reconfigured the conveyor system for flow management and optimization of

the workforce at downstream spur locations. The model successfully

implemented at the MaCalla facility; in the McCalla facility productivity

in this department increased by 30%. This model is now being used at

Home Depot facilities across the nation

o Identified a skill and pace technique for improving performance. This

was implemented in conjunction with the reconfiguring of the conveyor

system. A training program termed "Bell Curve" was rolled out for the

facility. This reduced the employee fatigue factor while improving the

performance of the building

o Created and implemented a freight receiving profiling tool for use in the

facility to enable better pallet building and improve cube for outgoing

built pallets. Created look-up tools currently used by the Processing

Department; they are used to determine cut times for pallets based on

outbound schedules

o Created a tool that Automated report-generation; trained management and

supporting staff to use this tool to identify hourly employees who

showed promise for advancement as well as employees who were struggling

with the skill and pace technique

o Created simplified management tools for volume and productivity using

existing ProRep reports. Use Kronos (time management system) and the

ProRep to identify hours-optimization in the facility

o Worked with the WM (Warehouse Management) and PM (Plant Maintenance)

systems -Manhattan Warehouse software to determine trends within the

building.

o Won two Homer award for "doing the right thing" for providing techniques,

training, information and support to the management team in the McCalla

facility for productivity gains

o Created an FAQ on the shared drive to disseminate knowledge of finding

throughout the facility. Also undertake one-on-one interactions with

managers and supervisors to assist in researching issues and developing

sustainable strategies. Provide training as needed for the Birmingham

facility and recently edited the training code manual for ProRep to

include the training function code

o Currently also providing engineering support to the Valdosta, GA facility

in addition to the McCalla facility

o Process improvement and value stream mapping of different operations

within the facility. Provide the technical, qualitative analysis for

three six-sigma projects. Completed the Six Sigma Green certification

offered by USPS

o Responsible for Netflix mail for the state of Alabama. Tracked

performance, damage-rates and implement process improvements throughout

the state through machine utilization and sorting methods. Was able to

reduce the damage rates from 3% to below 1%, and improved the business

relationship with Netflix. This entire study that was conducted for

Alabama was submitted to the USPS headquarters in Washington DC as a

pilot study to be used for a six sigma implementation project. Submitted

an executive proposal for this study for evaluation to headquarters

o Design customized spreadsheet for labor scheduling and workload

balancing. Created a tool for balancing workloads for all shift,

factoring in sick time, vacation time, absenteeism and military leave.

This tool was used for creating labor plans for the Birmingham facility.

Worked with floor management constantly to ensure integrity of the tool

o Created a visual aid for process changes suggested and tracked the

improvements and changes that the new process created. Maintained the

operation plans for the facility for 3 months.

o Set up a query system using multiple databases using MS query and SQL for

the department. Was able to reduce the time of data downloads by 75% and

provided the information in simplified format as need to management.
