What I have been up to:
Director of Marketing at McCoy's Building Supply
For the past 11+ years I've been responsible for all Marketing and
Advertising activities for 84 store retail chain selling lumber and
building materials to predominantly small home builders and repair and
remodel contractors.
More specifically, during the past 3-4 years I was the Project Manager for
the initial re-launch and subsequent development and daily maintenance of
the mccoys.com website. We took the site from basically a static, brochure-
ware site to its current state (www.mccoys.com). I have worked directly
with an external web development partner who assisted us with content
management and general site development in the PHP environment. I also
worked with another external software development company who helped us
with "secure" functions of the site such as user authentication, credit
card processing, and interfacing with our point of sale system. This work
was done in the .NET framework. And I also worked with our internal
Information Systems department with our .NET programmers and finally, I
worked with our internal graphics department and our copy writer on the
overall look and feel of the site.
I was also responsible for the creation and ongoing posts to the "Go Build
Something" blog (http://www.mccoys.com/building-science-library/go-build-
something) as well as the accompanying tweets to the BornToBuild Twitter
page.
Additionally, I was responsible for the overall project budget including
yearly long term planning, shorter 3-5 month strategic planning, as well as
monthly tracking of progress to budget. I reported on overall status of the
website to upper management formally once a month as well as weekly
progress updates to my immediate supervisor.
Some highlights during my tenure as project manager:
. Interim revamp of old Lotus Domino based site then switch over to
totally new, PHP site
. Allowing registered customers access to their internal credit account
information via mccoys.com
. Integration of our Point of Sale system to an Online Product Catalog
with "real time" customer specific pricing
. Launched the Building Science Library which is an online knowledge
base
. Developed the Contractor Network which is an online matching service
designed to hook up end users and contractors

And before that for a little over 3 years I co-managed the Information
Systems department with a focus on the Local Area Network and Client
Support. Established Help Desk group and oversaw transition from Novel
network operating system to Windows NT environment.
Advertising Manager at McCoy's Building Supply
And many moons ago I managed the in-house Advertising Department for
McCoys. This was back in the old days before the internet, social media,
smart phones, etc. My oversight of the department included responsibility
for all aspects of traditional marketing and advertising to include TV,
radio, print, and in-store promotions.
