Manufacturing Operations Management
For the past decade I was employed by a leading global medical device
contract manufacturer in a variety of roles, including Manufacturing
Manager, Organizational Development Manager and Director of Marketing.
As Manufacturing Manager I was responsible for implementing steps that
reduced material variance and scrap through process improvement programs
and associate involvement, resulting in a $2.5m savings, doubled
manufacturing output while reducing delivery time from 16 to 4 weeks,
Improved yields for the company's major product lines from under 75% to
98%, implemented a Finite Capacity Scheduling/MRP system which was used to
identify time standard for 350 SKU's and produce costing and pricing
models, and successfully relocated two major product lines from California
to the Connecticut facility.
My work as Manufacturing Manager led to a promotion to Organizational
Development Manager, where I was instrumental in the development and
implementation of programs related to competency profiling and other needs
assessment methods to identify and prioritize organizational development
needs, developing content of workshops/training sessions designed to
accomplish organization change initiatives, coordinate corporate
communications on organization change objectives and related messaging
strategy, design of learning and development solutions to support strategic
initiatives, determining objectives and instructional methodologies,
delivery systems, and results measurement. Work in this area of the
business included successful implementation of 5S System, all training
related to conversion to ISO9001:13485, the introduction of a company
intranet and real time training and assessment mechanisms.
With an extensive knowledge of manufacturing and organizational
development, my transition into Director of Marketing was seamless. My
knowledge of products, processes, organizational culture and the medical
device market provided a unique and educated platform from which I could
develop new product initiatives working directly with the Engineering
department.
As Director of Marketing I worked closely with the New Product Development
department and process engineers in support of introducing several new
product platforms to the market. This work contributed to unprecedented
growth in the history of the company and ultimately helped grow revenue
from $25M to $60M in over six years. In that timeframe I was responsible
for complete management of all marketing related functions, including new
product development initiatives/marketing campaigns and several independent
brand launches.
