Career Highlights
Established greater productivity. As Product Manager at Symitar, I am
responsible for the implementation and support of 8 different products. I
have been able to standardize implementations procedures by being proactive
in creating project plans and procedures where there were none before.
Staff under my supervision have been empowered to make decisions which
helps expedite implementation and support cases to completion. As a
result, support cases over 60 days have been reduced from 10 percent to
less than 5 percent.
Instrumental in creating the GL Implementation/Support Department. As
Manager of the G/L specialist at Symitar Systems, one of my goals was to
merge the experience of the G/L specialist and that of customer support and
merge the two into one cohesive team, that would offer better quality
customer support for all G/L needs from implementation of the product to
support. As a result, the G/L Implementations and Support Department was
developed. The department handled all implementation for upcoming
conversions as well as all the G/L support for new and existing clients.
With my supervision, my team developed standards for the department, a
mission statement and a department handbook which helped them provide
better quality service to both internal and external customers. Many a
time did we get compliments from other departments for the teamwork
displayed by this department.
Developed training programs designed to increase efficiency. As VP of
Finance for Great American Credit Union and for El Paso Area Teachers
Credit Union, one of the many projects I initiated was the development of
training programs designed to increase the confidence level of my team
which increased productivity as well the quality of the work produced. As
a result of this, salary expense was reduced in the accounting department
because staff was able to take on extra duties eliminating the need to hire
more staff.
Turned around accounting department in a 6 month period during a merger.
The National Credit Union Association rates its credit unions on a scale of
1 to 5-1 being good and 5 being poor. At the time I was hired, the Ysleta
Teachers FCU had a rating of 5. My challenge was to turn the accounting
department around and improve its rating. Going back two to three years
and reconstructing the credit union's books, reconciling all G/L accounts,
setting up sub-ledgers, training accounting staff and writing accounting
and data processing procedures, the rating in the department went up and I
was promoted to Interim President.
