Selected Accomplishments

. Created compelling content for a federal agency's marketing campaign

designed to hype a new regulation aimed at the offshore fishing industry.

Drafted new content for the revamped website for an up-and-coming

architectural firm in the Washington, D.C. area. Crafted a highly

successful direct-marketing piece by-lined by the CEO of a Baltimore-

based software company for distribution to potential new customers.

. Crafted 20 key internal presentations for a business unit president and

other key executives and wrote 50 articles for corporate websites during

one fiscal year. Simultaneously provided weekly internal communications

counsel to the president and his VPs while managing the activities of a

direct-report staff of five.

. Orchestrated a multi-layered, global marketing communications effort to

raise product awareness for (1) new sales team members, (2) their

marketing-support colleagues and (3) customers. Success was evidenced by

incremental growth in global sales revenues over the next four quarters,

going from a quarterly revenue base of $460M at the start of the program

to over $500M.

. Planned and produced 10 major marketing events hosted by the business

unit president and his sales VPs during one fiscal year. Attended and

spoke at 5 events in different U.S. locations.

. Doubled monthly traffic on a corporate internal web site with an

aggressive employee information campaign. Launched campaign when monthly

hits were averaging about 10,000. Succeeded in raising the monthly

average to more than 19,000.

. Helped reverse a downward revenue trend and boost employee morale by

working closely with a new business unit president and his management

team to articulate and introduce a new set of "change-management"

initiatives. Revenues steadily rose over the next four quarters

(reversing a trend of nine consecutive losing quarters). Positive

responses rose 20% in the annual employee "barometer" survey.

. Worked closely with several dozen scientists (including Nobel Prize

winners), staff writers and designers to create a commemorative issue of

the Bell Labs News marking the 50th anniversary of the transistor in

1997.

. Organized and co-chaired a "Left-hand/Right-hand" Committee to better

share information between internal and external groups within a corporate

communications division. Achieved a more timely release of information

(to both employees and media outlets). Reduced duplication of efforts by

committee members.
