Professionally thirty years in the Graphic Arts fields, primarily in sales.
Communication skills are the key, asking probing questions and listening
to the responses to further questions creating a dialogue and building the
relationship.
2007-Present Printing Sales, Gateway Printing in St. Louis, MO: general
commercial printing, sales and marketing, client acquisition, client
service, project management and preparation of proposals outlining
specifications in great detailed. Continuously reevaluate and adjust plans
as needed. Use of Word, Excel and some graphics programs are a daily
basis, both in PC and MAC.
Began new marketing strategy promoting Gateway and to extending the Company
into new markets including set-asides for Woman and Minority Owned
Businesses. Am familiar with bidding processes with non-for profits and
commercial customers.
1985-2007 PAI Printing, as printing broker. Responsibilities similar to
above, with a greater role in project management in the Printing,
Marketing, Direct Marketing and Advertising areas. Numerous skills used on
daily basis. As Broker, bought then resold printing. Greatly increased
customer base with ongoing prospecting. November of 2004, PAI became IPC
Graphics via merger/buyout. By end of February 2007 PAI personnel phased
out due to IPC downsize.
Special achievements:
. Got the order and then managed massive printing project coming in
$20,000 under customers budget that generated over 30% profit for my
employer (excess of $90,000).
. Additionally the customer received numerous praises and an assistant
vice presidency for the customer.
. Received Printing Awards of Excellence on several occasions for my
customers
. Acquired and developed new business
. Supervised Company's relocation to newer facilities on two occasions
Concurrently held several positions on Board of Directors of St.
Louis Direct Marketing Association, most recently as President.
Additionally, chaired in several portfolios, including professional
education. Coordinated and conducted seminars and panel discussions on
Graphic Arts to peers and to the newer members in the profession. Turned
concepts into attainable objectives in an organized and progressive manor.

Some special accomplishments associated with Direct Marketing Association:
. Managed development and execution of Internet Marketing Seminar in
partnership with
. St. Louis University, generating $32,000 in revenue for organization
. Similar program in conducted at Maryville University on smaller scale,
generating $24,000 net revenue.
. Board Member in charge of starting Internet Committee as Direct
Marketing moved into Internet Age, adapting tried and true methods to
this new median and in developing new strategies and approaches, as
the technologies changed
. Production of monthly newsletter and special mailings
. Budget preparation for special events and general yearly budget
. Long term strategic planning for theAssociation.
. Board Member in charge of Annual Trade Show which ranging from a one
to a three day events in a variety of venues in the St. Louis area
. Conducted numerous seminars on various aspects of Graphic Arts, was
"go to" person with the new people (not unlike in the Printing
business where I trained new sales personnel).

ONGOING
Continue education frequently with courses/seminars to learn new
communication skills. Read a great deal on a wide variety of topics to
give a wide background of general knowledge. Always take the time to get to
know the customer's area so as to be able to offer practical ideas on how
their printing product will come across. Am a valued member of customer's
team in the development and preparation and of the printed piece, weather
as stand-alone or as part of ad campaign. On some occasions took lead in
developing their marketing plan. Spring 2010 took Psychology course
intending to increase people understanding and selling skills.
