EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, Global Technical Service 2006 - 2010
Shire Pharmaceuticals - (Global Pharmaceutical Technology),
Maryland/Pennsylvania, US
. Set strategic direction by introducing global technical exchange
with third party manufacturers in a virtual manufacturing environment.
Introduced statistical tools for trouble shooting and managed
technical leaders and consultants to resolving product challenges.
. Developed scale-up and technology transfer for $2 billion late phase
III drug product acquired from New River.
. Achieved supply chain savings of $5 million by presenting a white
paper in a Type C FDA meeting to remove restrictions on GI drug
product supply chain.
. Achieved savings of ?$3 million in a lean project; working with
consultants, using physical value streams to streamline the sourcing
component of end to end Global Supply Chain principles to reduce
inventory levels.
. Managed technology /product transfer across third party manufacturers.
. Managed a $5million capital project to install and validate a new
packaging line for FDA approval.
SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW 2006
Andrx Pharmaceuticals, Ft Lauderdale, Florida, USA
. Directed Process Development activities to ensure clear understanding
of the science & technology.
. Provided process engineering leadership as subject matter expect for
scaling up Andrx high blood pressure generic medication, metoprolol.
Provided input for ANDA, NDA submissions to the FDA.
SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER/INDUSTRIAL PHARMACIST 2005
Reviewed all stages of product life cycle; from development through
commercialisation.
. Provided process implementation support for Andrx generic and brand
controlled-release medication from R&D to routine manufacturing
. Resolved Andrx humidifier challenges for pan coating and Glatt
evaporative coating.
Resolved Andrx blockbuster extended release cholesterol (Altoprev)
dissolution challenges by application of polymer chemistry, DoE
(statistical analysis) & working with Tunnell Consultants. Used QbD and
process modelling for Andrx novel diabetes combo formulation.
LEAD PROJECT MANAGER 2000 - 2004
The Gillette Company, Boston, MA. USA
. Managed integration of Shaving and Toiletry Technology Laboratories
into one Personal Care Development Laboratories. (Change
Management).

. Managed R&D activities.Worked with Program Management and Supply
Chain for effective end to end supply chain
. Designed & commissioned a novel intrinsically safe gel filler for
Gillette's Personal Care laboratory.
The new gel filler reduced time to market by half.
. Perfected Gillette's DAAP process, (Dual Action Antiperspirant)
using mathematical modelling, emulsion technology and spray
drying.
. Provided technical consultancy for Gillette antipesperant salt
spray drying processes in Chicago.
AToM PROJECT/PLANT MANAGER 1997-2000
Zeneca Pharmaceuticals/Agrochemical, Yalding. UK
(AToM stands for "Ability to Manufacture"). Managed all front-end process
engineering design; P&IDs, process control and commissioning activities.
. Established strategies for cross functional product development
teams to successfully improve operations & launched two novel
products estimated $1billion in market share.
. Designed, built and managed a $30 million computer-controlled
batch formulation, filling & packaging Plant in Belgium. Plant
capacity, 170,000 litres per shift at peak capacity. (High speed
filling & packing).
. Transferred technology to sister Plants in Brazil and USA.
PROJECT ENGINEERING LEADER 1995-1997
Graham Hart Process Technology Ltd, Bradford. UK.
Led the Process Design Group of a medium size, ($20 million), private
consultancy firm, to successfully design and manufacture Skid mounted
package plants of heat and mass transfer units.
. Designed skid mounted shell and tube heat
exchanges/distillation columns for the fine chemical &
Pharmaceuticals industries.
. Managed shop floor schedule. Introduced weekly meetings including
shop floor supervisors to review projects and shop floor schedule.
This initiative increased efficiency and eliminated schedule
conflicts.
. Negotiated foreign contracts worth over $2 million.
WORKS ENGINEER/PROCESS ENGINEER 1989 - 1991
Beecham Pharmaceuticals (now Glaxo-SmithKline Beecham, UK) Worthing, United
Kingdom
. Provided technical support for penicillin manufacturing and
operations in Primary and Secondary Production Divisions,
(parenteral).
. Achieved spent acetone recovery improvement by 50% by redesigning
and replacing distillation column internals. Increased convective
dryer yield by 50%
